Eh, the difference between biologically engineered slaves and robots is academic if you're assholes.
And they have AI, it's just sentient Brain Upload beings.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Brain uploading is not the same as AI.
Optimism is a duty.I've said this many times: I'm a total sucker for the Isu portion of the story. I love sci-fi reimagining of history with the genetic memory and mental time travel components. I don't care that it's largely nonsense from a scientific perspective: it's unique and fun. The historical tourism aspect of the games is also important but less vital. I love parkouring around Rome but even In-Universe it's acknowledged as a simulation that the Animus is piecing together from genetic memory, not a "true and accurate" representation.
I don't think Ubisoft did itself any favors when it started playing up the "historical" nature of the games. I much preferred the alternate history ideas and the deliberate reframing of the past through the lens of the Assassin-Templar conflict. No, it didn't entirely make sense but who cares? It's a fucking video game.
Part of its downfall is the series taking itself far too seriously. I think that Assassin's Creed III is where the lines crossed over, although the Warts and All view of the American Revolution is really great to me as someone who appreciates that sort of thing. While I enjoyed it, the tone of the game was too dour to sustain interest for many people.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Intelligent beings consisting of computer programs?
I think part of the issue is that everyone, even those with rosy images of the Founders, agreed that Connor would figure out they weren't fighting for universal freedom early on.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.I mean, by basic definition, uploaded brains are not artificial intelligence.

Trans rights are human rights.Well they're not biological. They're created by replicating the minds of living beings.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. But they are still the minds of living beings. They are not artificially created minds. That's the difference.
Optimism is a duty.Okay so:
- One-handed swords are coming in a future update. (I guess they must've figured out how to make them distinct from axes or gave up on caring)
- The Siege of Paris will have black box missions like in Unity and Syndicate
- Valhalla's Discovery Tour will come out sometime this fall.
- The game will continue to be supported into 2022, hinting at potentially more expansions.

Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. What's a black box mission?
Somewhat looking forward to the Discovery Tour mode, if only to be able to faff about in peace.
Optimism is a duty. How Unity and Syndicate did the assassination missions.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. That's really cool. They clearly put a lot of work into the environment.
Optimism is a duty.Is there any reason why you felt the need to spoiler tag that?
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Because it's inflammatory and I don't want anyone to think I'm intentionally derailing the thread to complain about Ubisoft again, because that sets a bad example.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I mean, then why post it?
I mean, its still there to be read. Ubisoft is awful, we know this. Its why I'm not buying any new games but it's still there just to express anger over their awful behavior.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.By all means, continue discussing the pretty flowers. I'm done.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"...Oooookkkaaayy.
Ah, flowers. We can afford to make beautiful flowers but we couldn’t afford to give a French protagonist a French accent.
...Damn, this sounds more shit-posty then I meant.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.I think that has more to do with modern gaming's focus on visual fidelity rather than audio or story. Even if all else fails, modern AAA titles still generally look gorgeous.
Optimism is a duty.Ubisoft’s next Assassin’s Creed will be a live service game:
Ubisoft later confirmed it is developing Assassin's Creed Infinity, writing in a blog post that "a collaborative, cross-studio structure between Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Quebec [...] will guide, grow, evolve, and define the overall future of Assassin's Creed that includes an important upcoming, early-in-development project codenamed Assassin's Creed Infinity."
Recent entries in the 14-year-old Assassin's Creed franchise have ballooned in size. The most recent title, 2020's Assassin's Creed Valhalla, could easily take more than 100 hours to fully explore and complete. In this sense, the Assassin's Creed games have already offered a live service game experience by allowing players to truly devote huge chunks of their time to completing every side quest. This upcoming Assassin's Creed game will be the next logical step in the trend.
Since this upcoming game will have to incorporate ongoing, persistent updates, it won't take place in just one historical time period, as previous Assassin's Creed games have done. instead, it'll contain multiple settings, with the potential to include even more as time goes on. A spokesperson for Ubisoft told Bloomberg that the team hopes to "exceed the expectations of fans who have been asking for a more cohesive approach" to the series.
"Rather than continuing to pass the baton from game to game, we profoundly believe this is an opportunity for one of Ubisoft's most beloved franchises to evolve in a more integrated and collaborative manner that's less centered on studios and more focused on talent and leadership, no matter where they are within Ubisoft," said Nathalie Bouchard, managing director at Ubisoft Quebec, and Christophe Derennes, managing director at Ubisoft Montreal, in Ubisoft's blog. "Most importantly, Assassin's Creed has always been developed by multicultural teams with various backgrounds and perspectives that have influenced the depiction of its characters, locations, and cultures. While we know there's always room for improvement, we believe this new structure allows us to ensure that diversity and representation within our teams continues to grow and match that of our players."
But unidentified sources told Bloomberg that some complications remain in the development pipeline. Last year, multiple senior leaders at Ubisoft were accused of harassment and abuse. Bloomberg's sources said that "some managers accused of abusive behavior remain in senior positions after the reorganization."
Asked about this, a Ubisoft spokesperson told Bloomberg, "Employees who have been under investigation would not remain at Ubisoft if results of investigations warranted termination." The spokesperson also declined to comment on individual cases.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.............................. Fucking Ubisoft.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Well that garantees I ain't playing it.
My last Ubisoft purchase was Legion and the Season Pass and that was before I knew about certain things.
But they have run AC into the group artistically as well.

As far as I can tell, the Isu never really had anything resembling AI or even robotics. They just went straight for genetic engineering and transcendental mathematics.
And that makes sense. Your ideas will be shaped by the culture and technology of your society. If you've never invented the wheel, you're not going to invent a car, let alone invent an electric car.
