What's awkward about it exactly?

Just a weird word. Maybe it's just me. She picked up the book, she levitated the book. Seems weird to me, but so long as it translates to the screen decent enough, I guess it's okay.

It was just that the ponies do pick stuff up with their hooves on occasion in the show, or with their mouths, plus it's a trait unique to Unicorns. I thought it justified clarification.

So I've kinda run into a block with my fic. I'm working on a shipping fic, and it's a fair plot point that the guy doesn't remember everything that happened one night. The problem is, I'm not sure how reasonable that is. During the night he had a few drinks, and was half passed out. I'm worried it might come across as Did Not Do The Research, now that I have done the research and I can say that it is not that easy to black out.

I dunno, is that enough to pull someone out of it, do you think? Is it an acceptable failure?

I don't even drink, but my memory's fuzzy enough that it's hard for me to remember details about the previous night. Unless said character manages to forget something big that just happened, you can probably get away with it.

It would help if (perhaps subconsciously) they somehow want to not remember what happened.

Anyway, I'm kind of still waiting for someone (or a handful of someones) to take a look at this and tell me what's wrong with it.

It was nothing huge, it was just a conversation. And the guy is...well, not dense, but the girl keeps getting a bigger and bigger crush on him, and he doesn't really notice. So he can't be blamed for it going over his head, I guess.

The effects of alcohol vary a lot, depending on the individual. Some people (and ponies) have a higher tolerance than others. I don't see that it would be a problem as long as you make it clear that the drinks are affecting him.

Out of curiosity, what happens if you give a RL pony alcohol?

Apparently donkeys can get drunk and then attempt to eat figs.

On blacking out, real memory tendencies don't apply that well cause of the whole Law of Conservation of Detail thing. If you hide the ball from the viewers well enough, or pass it around so many times that people lose track in that guy in the ape suit in the background, it doesn't matter what the characters know, just what the viewers know.

Within limits, of course. (Case in point, how does a pony *coughPinkiePiecough* forget their own birthday?!)

Just wondering: How well would Death Note level Xanatos Gambitting gell with MLP? Cuz in my script I noticed that no less than 2 of my characters are fully fledged Chessmasters

I think it depends whether you're playing it for drama or humor. Which characters are the chessmasters?

What do you mean by playing it for drama or humour? Which one wouldn't work?

In the pilot, Nigntmare and Celestia are already established as Chessmasters, so I don't see an issue. What Teeth is probably saying if you try for a ridiculous Thirty Xanatos Pileup with Pinkie Pie behind it to get some free food out of Applejack, (hmm...) it may be better received than an I Know You Know I Know sort of situation played for reals. Although, Pinkie slipped a $20 to Reality on the way in, so the whole argument is moot.

For those who have read mine what are your thoughts on shifting parties. What i would like to do is have multiple parties, each with their own story arc, that eventually meet up.

For example we have right now The Elements of Harmony on the way to Bucktown, now we have transitioned to Celestia and Luna and 4 guards going to meet them, after that i wat to do a concurent flashback of Rainbow Dash beyond the border of the world, and ty it all off with The La D crew going to invistigat this new unlocked continent (equestria) eventually the 3 presetn time story will come to a head and form one big party but will you, as the player, enjoy shofting the active party around?

7 friends, a robot, and a spirit, will find a way to protect us...if it kills them.

Mainly the thing was that I didn't have enough information to say how the Xanatos Roulette would play out. What I meant was that whether or not it should be humorous or dramatic depends on which characters were heading it. It would basically have to be humorous if Pinkie Pie or Fluttershy was The Chessmaster, but using Celestia and Luna means you could probably play it straight without derailing the characters. Trying to play it for drama with Pinkie Pie as the chessmaster probably wouldn't work out that well.
