The cute part is debatable but how do we know she has a tragic backstory if she is only sitting in the floor?

I've never seen the series in question, but I picked up what the description describes: a cold, distant person with a lot of issues. She just looks that way.

ETA: To further explain, she's huddled, her knees drawn up, coldly staring—almost glaring, not to mention the Black and White Beauty look that makes her seem Tall, Dark and Bishōjo, who are aloof.

I have no idea who that is, but she certainly seems to be giving off a stereotypical "emo" feel to me.

It's JAFAAC, but her expression is clearly down/angry/hurt, implying brokenness, so I'd say this is one that we don't have to pull until we can find something better.

If you can imply the trope by the image it is not JAAFAC by default. The image is fine, not need to worry about it.

Well, anything could lead to that expression. Hell, she could have a bunion.

That is not what I am arguing. You said yourself you could sense the trope from the image. This, by definition, makes the image not JAFAAC. I am tired to repeat, but JAAFAC is not the same as "bad image" or "image that don't fully explain the trope". It is "image that don't show the trope at all". If you could get part of the trope from the image and/or, you felt the image was illustrating the trope well (without know the cahracter), it is not JAFAAC.

Actually, this trope is literally JAAFAC - the point is that it still works, albeit not perfectly. There are some tropes when all you need is a face and a caption. I think we could do better, but unless there is something better out there, this doesn't need to be replaced.

[up] Which is pretty much exactly what I'm trying to say, albeit badly...need sleep.

EDIT: I went through the examples list, and unfortunately there weren't any links to specific scenes where we could source an instance of brokenness.

[up]I concur. I feel it could be improved.I have some ideas.

For instance a sad girl with her woobie past as a background @ Heath you seem to love JAFAAC pics...

[up][up][up]Literal JAFAAC may not be a JAFAAC. The same way a counterpart of a spear is not a Spear Counterpart. Similarly, an image can be JAFAAC without even have a face, much less a caption.

Don't thrown terms around without knowing what they mean.

(Also, the pic is not even a literal JAFAAC, anyway. It shows the whole body.)

@Calm down. The fact that I disgree with your philosophy is ... understandble. But never mind I will post proposal.I hate debates and I am not here to debate sorry let's just leave it at that.

some caption text

here you can see that she is troubled (her sad face) and the character behind here does imply a troubled past.

I will photosop more proposals tommorow.

Why is that calm down for? Also, I have completely missed your prevous poist. The reason I "love" JAFAAC pics is people apparently have no idea of what a JAFAAC pic is and keep calling perfectly goof pics (or actually bad pics taht don't fit JAFAAC) "JAFAAC". And That Is Terrible. I end up having to post to remember people what JAFAAC is. Throwing the term around may mislead people and induce them against an image becasue they make the association "JAFAAC==Bad" instead of thinking by themselves if the pic is really 'bad' at all.

As for you picture. I think it is bad. I can't see any sad face. If I look close I can see the eyes that could be either sad, worry or fear, but it is quite hard (and I would have if you haven't pointed). The character behind her do not imply any "sad past" at all. Not even "past", actually. It seems closer to Evil Counterpart. Definitively not superior to the current one.

[up][up]What she[up] said. Which is pretty amazing considering you could actually use Shinji to make a decent image. There are quite a few images with him with the appropriate body language. You would hardly take the personality of the trope from him, though.

And what did you mean with your demotivator? Were you just randomly trying to insult me?

The image is fine, stop trying to replace it. Especially since you don't even seem to understand the trope.

No, he wouldn't. For one, the description explicitly puts it forth as a primarily female trope, and he's not really a Broken Bird or Troubled, but Cute. He has issues, yes, but there's more to the tropes than having "issues"

There are plenty of other threads that need resolution, instead of spending our time flailing about over perfectly fine images.

The image isn't perfect the trope crearly indicates the background is part of the trope.I have seen much better pics that convey that, hence the reason I started the thread. Really I hate debates please...

I have an idea with fate testarossa that will convey the trope mcuh better ( I am just brainstorming tight now.)

don't worry you won't waste your time I will do the job.

Throwing the term around may mislead people and induce them against an image becasue they make the association "JAFAAC==Bad" instead of thinking by themselves if the pic is really 'bad' at all.

So... if the image demonstrates the trope - even if it is literally just a face and a caption (or in this case a full body and a caption) then it's not JAFAAC. But apparently JAFAAC is not always a bad thing, even though JAFAAC can only include trope images that don't demonstrate the trope. Something isn't adding up here.

[[off-topic rant]]

One more reason why the Just A Face And A Caption TRS thread needs to get stop arguing and try to solve the problem. Seriously, now, people.

[[/off-topic rant]]

At any rate, while the current image isn't perfect, it demonstrates the trope well enough to stay unless we find something unambiguously better.
