So with less than two weeks until the release of Dawn of the Clans 1: The Sun Trail, we finally have a cover for Dawn of the Clans 2: Thunder Rising. (Also, the title of the third one is The First Battle.) Cover here.◊
Also, there's a blurb for Thunder Rising.
Discover the origins of the warrior Clans in this thrilling and richly-developed prequel arc. Featuring a new cast of characters and a never-before-seen look at the history of the warrior cats, the Dawn of the Clans arc is perfect for existing fans and for those new to the Warriors world. With over fourteen million copies sold and each new title hitting the New York Times bestseller list, the Warriors series continues to fly off the shelves.
Well, the second half of the blurb is stupidly annoying. Yes, we know that Warriors has sold a bunch of books. What, is Harper Collins asking us to buy two copies of the next book because they're greedy bastards? I mean, I know that Harper Collins are greedy bastards, but they're essentially advertising that they're greedy bastards.
I wonder if Mothflight will be a major character in the fourth book? She is going to discover the Moonstone, after all.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"The Browse Inside for The Sun Trail is up, so you can read the first quarter of the book for the swell price of absolutely free.
I just skimmed it, but Gray Wing and Jagged Peak are awesome.
Also, Vicky confirmed that Gray Wing is Graywing the Wise, a WindClan leader from Battles of the Clans.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"And now I have The Sun Trail. It's great, and combines the best elements of each Warriors. So, what does it take to get you guys to post.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"Well, I haven't actually read the new books. :P
Victory! Honor! Destiny! Mutton! You should check out The Sun Trail when it hits stores on March 5th. It's completely awesome, and doesn't really require much knowledge of Warriors to read it. (Of course, you'll get more out of it if you know Warriors.)
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"....And The Sun Trail is out today! It's really good, so anyone who has ever enjoyed a Warriors book should pick up a copy.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"Dawn of the Clans: The Sun Trail has been out for some time now. Has anyone else read it?
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"Nobody has posted in ages, so I'll share this bit of news.
On her Sun Trail tour, Vicky revealed that we're getting a Super Edition set after The Last Hope. It's called Bramblestar's Storm.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"I still need to read The Last Hope. How is The Sun Trail by the way? I'm not to interested in this prequel series but if it is good so far...
The Sun Trail is exceptional. The plot is fast-paced and interesting, and the characters are pretty well-developed. The dialogue is good, the prose is good, and there are tons of little nods to the modern Warriors.
Also, the antagonist is an actual Anti-Villain. And while other arcs have done it somewhat, the protagonist is a deconstruction of Firestar.
It's really, really good. But you don't just need to take my word for it. If you cared to go to the official forum (although you don't need to, you would see the Unpleasable Fanbase giving the book near unanimous praise. Yes, The Sun Trail has pleased the Unpleasable Fanbase.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"Well, it's been a few months since anyone posted here. Looking for Warriors company.
Tallstar's Revenge and a paperback compilation of Hollyleaf's Story, Mistystar's Omen, and Cloudstar's Journey are coming out on Tuesday. I'm excited.
The Browse Inside for Tallstar's Revenge is out, but I haven't read it because spoilers.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"Tallstar's Revenge came out yesterday. It is really freaking amazing, and maybe even better than Bluestar's Prophecy and Crookedstar's Promise. It also fleshes out the character of Jake, Firestar's father.
.....Dead thread, why must you mock me?
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"I haven’t read Tallstar’s Revenge, but even a day after it has come out there’s so much good reception that I can’t wait for it to come into the libraries where I live. After The Sun Trail – which was awesome – I really think the books will improve. New characters and story is very attractive after four series of the same timeline.
Dawn of the Clans 4 has been announced to be called The Blazing Star! I'm hoping for a Mothflight point of view.
Man, November can't come quick enough.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"News from a Q&A with series editor Erica on the official forum. Mostly concerns Dawn of the Clans.
- Both Gray Wing and Thunder will be point of view characters in Thunder Rising.
- River will debut in Thunder Rising and apparently star in the Bonus Scene.
- Clear Sky will become a point of view character at some point.
- Erica says that the 2015 Super Edition will probably be about Mothflight, the first medicine cat.
Holy ships. There's apparently a Dawn of the Clans commercial on TV!
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"Okay, so cool contest-ish survey thing going on. Link
In that survey above, you can vote for one of six scenes from The Sun Trail. The scene with the most votes will be rewritten from the perspective of another character. The scenes are:
- Jagged Peak leaving the cave and being saved by Gray Wing. (Jagged Peak)
- The eagle fight leading up to Bright Stream's death. (Bright Stream)
- Gray Wing introducing Storm to Clear Sky. (Storm)
- Jagged Peak being returned to the moor group after he breaks his leg. (Jagged Peak)
- Storm's house collapsing and her death. (Storm)
- Clear Sky rejecting Thunder. (Clear Sky)
The Clear Sky scene seems to be the most popular so far, and its the one I voted for. My least favourite would probably be the Bright Stream one.
How many other people here have read The Sun Trail, by the way?
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"I have.
I'm also currently in the process of reading The Untold Stories. I've only finished Hollyleaf's Story so far.
Okay, some thoughts on The Untold Stories.
- It's interesting to see how a character who doesn't know Fallen Leaves is a ghost interacts with him.
- Cloudstar needs a hug.
Yes on the hugs. Adding to that, it took 30 years for him to be reunited with Birdflight, and he had to watch as his Clan was torn apart by rats. But at least Firestar's Quest gives him a happy ending.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"Okay what the hell.
The character list for Warriors: The Ultimate Guide has been revealed. See it here. (Minor spoilers.)
I'm not that ticked at the character list, although I wish Sunstar had gotten a profile. But Sol and Mapleshade have them, so that's cool.
Anyway, we all knew that River would be showing up in Thunder Rising. But apparently, his full name is River Ripple. Is he supposed to be some kind of ice cream?
Seriously, that's a terrible name.
But Wind has the awesome name Wind Runner, which she can keep forever as far as I'm concerned.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"There's now a cover to Leafpool's Wish, one which has to be seen to be believed.
Link◊
Lionblaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaze!!!!
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"I got my copies of Thunder Rising and Warriors: The Ultimate Guide early!
I'm posting pics on my Tumblr.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"Well, The Ultimate Guide and Thunder Rising are out.
I think Thunder Rising is good so long as you remember that the second book of each Warriors arc (as long as the fourth book) is always a bridge book which sets things up so that book three can be completely amazing.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"
The prologue and first chapter of Dawn of the Clans: The Sun Trail have been released, and can be read here.
Oh, and the prologue and first chapter of Tallstar's Revenge have also been released. Check here for them.
Silver Frost is the best character, and it's neat to see Half Moon in there. Also, I appreciate the Mothflight appearance in Tallstar's Revenge. We know that Shattered Ice will join WindClan.
From Cloudstar's Journey, Clear Sky has been confirmed to be Sky, and it's likely that Tall Shadow is Shadow. And Gray Wing looks like Graywing the Wise from Battles of the Clans. Clear Sky is a really interesting character. He's a selfish prick, and the type to try to force a prophecy onto himself. I wonder what he'll be like after he gets his own Clan.
Also, my favourite line is "Dreams? What’s the point of that? I dreamed I killed a huge eagle and ate it all myself, but I was still hungry when I woke up!" from Gray Wing.
