I am an aspiring writer who is currently trying to get a book published, but, in the meantime, I intend to start a Web Novel for the sake of writing practice and spreading my name. Ideally, starting a new website would be ideal, but I know next to nothing about website design, so I was wondering if anyone knew of a site where I could begin uploading said Web Novel. I would like the site to be similar to the usual webcomic style, with First, Previous, Archive, Next, and Last buttons for quick use.

Something similar to this would be ideal: http://qazyfiction.com/

That's a wordpress blogging site dressed up with a theme. You could quite literally make your own using nothing but the built-in tools and a theme. Why,in my day we used to hand-edit HTML in a text editor and upload it with FTP mumble mumble mumble...tongue

The author of the Rational Twilight fanfic made her own site like you described, minus the fancy key controls. Drop her an email. She'd be far better qualified to explain - my knowledge is about 5 years out of date.

(key controls - Javascript. Seriously.)

Be careful. I heard that you can't get your novel in print if it has been previously published. Posting it online counts as previously published. If it's a different novel, though, it should be okay.

Warm hugs and morally questionable advice given here. Prosey Bitchfest

[up][up][up] So your saying just make my own? Well, obviously, I would if I knew how to do so. I didn't really get involved with the internet until about 4 years ago and know absolutely nothing about coding and such. Making my own site is Plan B.

[up] That's not actually 100% true, but thanks anyway. I have a finished Novel I'm working on getting an agent for at the moment, this site would be for an original novel designed purely for the web. I'm not exactly planning on publishing it, though it could eventually happen.

What I was getting at:

  1. Sign up to Wordpress/blogsite (provides hosting & domain name)
  2. Apply theme to make it look like you want - the site I linked has some free ones
  3. Publish

Obviously, it won't provide the same impact as www.yournovelnamehere.org, but you want free, easy and under your control? I can give you the first two.

Thank you. I definitely plan on getting my own site at some point but I'm basically looking for a temporary solution at the moment.
