Was it revealed that Azazel has nothing to do with the devil gene recently?

Not so much revealed but it finally answered how Kazuya (and Jin) got the Devil Gene (through Kazumi).

The "Azazel being the source of the Devil Gene" only came from pitting Devil Jin against Azazel in T6's Scenario Campaign.

It's not even the first time the installment's final boss is accused to of being the originator of the Devil Gene; they did it with Jinpachi in 5 too, and then it turned out that he's just randomly possessed by an unrelated power.

...so I guess with Kazumi being unlikely to return to Tekken 8, it makes it three times. At least there shouldn't be a fourth one unless they're planning to do some shenanigans with Jun...

I thought there was a theory that Soul Edge was the originator of the Devil Gene.

Tbf Azazel could still be the originator of the Devil Gene it is just they passed it down or whoever contracted with it passed it down. Kazumi's line is just descended from one of these two possibilities.

Jin's T8 bio still say Azazel is the origin of the devil gene.

He is stuck in Zafina's arm so he isnt exactly dead

So it's either spend the rest of his life apologizing to literally everyone in the world or bank on blowing Zafina up somehow if it means finishing off Azazel?

I don't see why Kazumi not returning would affect her involvement in the Devil Gene. We know it runs in her bloodline and she's the reason it was introduced into the Mishima family.

I mean, at this point the only dangerous devil is Kazuya so he must go first.

For all we know, the devil gene cannot be removed as its genetic. At best you can remove the evil part (which is what Jun might do)

Plus, the fate of the Hachijos is up in the air. For all we know, either they were wiped out or are still around

And who knows if somehow Akuma'll be back anyway. Maybe he survived Kazuya dunking him into a volcano and is hell bent on fulfilling that promise?

You joke, but I'm willing to believe there's some "Angel Gene" as well (or if not that, then whatever it is that made Unknown) that might be looking to make a move.

Asuka did something, at the end of 5, so who the fuck knows. This is why IMO Tekken does a better job with the goofy side cast, or when the intros/endings go over the top.

Iirc, Zafina forsaw two stars clashing that would awaken Azazel and wreck the world over. Could it be possible Jin got this warning and decided to try and get rid of Azazel before trying to finish off the Mishimas?

That power really should go to Asuka if it ever exists.

Asuka did something in 5, but that's never been followed up on.

and Do note that ending was never canon in the first place.

While not strictly canon, the Kazama blood has some form of power that nullifies the devil gene. It was first seen in Jun's TTT ending.

Plus, Jin's devil is different from Kazuya and Kazumi. His is more like a fallen angel instead of a devil. I wonder if the Kazama blood has anything to do with that.

Then it was alluded to that there's something special in the Kazama blood per Lili's T7 Ending.

As for Jin, I might add that his blood may be the reason for that as he's the spawn of Kazuya and Jun. Most likely, his Devil powers were dilluted because of whatever Kazama blood has to offer.

I heard Hwoa was already one of the characters with the most chip damage potential. Hopefully he isn't a nightmare to fight with the new system
