It's kinda hard for Sonic 1 to reference anything other than that SEGA racing game.
Also, off the top of my head:
- Battle and Shadow are direct sequels to Adventure 2
- Advance 3 is a sequel to Battle
- Chronicles is a direct sequel to Battle but is non-canon
- Rush Adventure is a direct sequel to Rush
- Colors DS contains a variety of references but is non-canon
Riders and TSR are referenced in Frontiers, and I think Riders was referenced in Generations' trophy room. Are any of the other racing games referenced in a canon game? In particular, is Rivals mentioned anywhere, or are the Rush games Nega's only canon appearance?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyColours DS is super canon alongside its main console version (or I guess technically Ultimate now), not only is Mother Wisp canon thanks to TSR, but DS exclusive Wisps showed up in the prerendered cutscenes for Colours; alongside Lost World 3DS and Forces.

I do writing, feel free to check out my stories here! https://numbugwritingblog.tumblr.com/post/686233243868102656/numbugs-shared-heroic-uniThe only real difference story wise between Colors Wii and Colors DS is that other people checked out the amusement park.
Both versions of Colors are canon, in Broad Strokes - Loose Canon ways. Same way 06 is still canon and why IDW mentioned recently of Eggman using Chaos Drives, which he used in 06.
The continuity of the rodent is very loose.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back. And Classic Sonic from Generations is in fact Sonic from the past, and not some alternate reality Sonic like they insisted was the case for a while there.
THE MULTUVERSE IS CANON, NOOOOOOOOO
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Sonic: Wait a second, if you're me from the past, wouldn't I remember this happening? From when I was you? How does that work?
Sonic: (shrug) Must be some kind of weird time travel multiverse thing or something.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.x7: He's back.
HE'S BAAAAAAAAAACK!
- Sonic doesn't really have a home, he just crashes at places? Nice that they established that. Some might balk at the concept of just roaming the world, but when you can move at the speed of sound, it's not really that bad?
- So if Classic Sonic is officially a younger Sonic, does that mean we can call him Baby Sonic?
- But seriously, very curious that they didn't mention Classic Sonic appearing in Sonic Forces. (Though they used cutscenes from there, so that's enough evidence that it was the same exact Classic Sonic?)
- Sneaky reference to Sonic Boom (and maybe Movie Sonic since he has blue arms too?) is sneaky. (Also a reference to the original concept of Sonic having a band?)
- We saw Cream and Jet in something that isn't IDW or Sonic Channel, so wooo!
- And one of Tails' folders is called "Lego Ideas". I think a Lego news video I saw said something about listings for more Lego Sonic sets, so...foreshadowing?

When Sonic met his future self in the Sonic Terminator story his future self still remembered what his past self said. Admittedly Future Sonic was from only five/ten minutes from the future. It is the only part of the Sonic Terminator time travel that makes some sense, since Sonic and Amy are still stuck on the Miracle Planet even though the Metallix (Metal Sonic) was regoned out of existence and his brother Metallix (Mecha Sonic Mk 2) still remembered him.
I hate time travel sometimes because of confusing adventures like this.

"May your heart be your guiding key"Different rules in different continuities don't help the confusion.
SoundCloudNo they don't.
"May your heart be your guiding key"Guess the next episode is gonna be featuring Shadow.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. For me, Sonic Colors might be the best Sonic game to not have Classic Sonic in it. Just does so many things right and that I think it should be looked back at more when trying to better understand how Modern Sonic should function going forward.
I don't think making Sonic's abilities context sensitive is a good idea in terms of functionality.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Think the Ultimate port might damaged its image a bit.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. It's a freaking port, not the whole damn game.
You can't kill art.Its also the only way to legally play the game in the current generation so...
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.As a port...it is quite literally the whole game.
Plus more.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I think Colors was a fun little game that is MASSIVELY overrated.
Nitpicking is an overrated measure.
You can't kill art.I have certain thoughts about Colors, but for the integrity of the thread I'll just keep them to myself.

The only console mainline titles that DIDN'T reference at least one previous game in some way are...
Sonic 1, CD and Colours.
Arguably Unleashed.
Sonic 2 referenced Sonic 1, 3&K is a direct sequel to 2, SA 1 referenced 3&K and CD, SA 2 referenced SA 1, Heroes is a direct sequel to SA 2, 06 builds upon Omega's introduction in Heroes, Unleashed has a one-off mention of Shadow, Generations's whole premise is referencing the past, Lost World has Baldy Nosehair, Forces has classic Sonic and the Replica villains, and Frontiers is essentially expanding the backstory given in SA 1.
This franchise was never this disconnected mess where each event never calls upon the previous adventure, and looking at it that way is objectively incorrect with the consistent examples to the contrary.
