I'm gonna go off on a limb and say guess that Celeste lacks any kind of mechanic that can be compared to Lost World's parkour system.
Beyond the obvious I'd say the biggest difference is Celeste having such a tight gameplay core that it gradually expands out from on vs Lost World jumping all over the place with its gameplay emphasis to the point where it struggles with any of them having real depth.
Bingo.
Making sure your game is focused and uses its mechanics effectively is a core element of all game design. Saying two games can't be compared because the mechanics aren't 1:1 is an extremely superficial view of game design.
Celeste definitely feels closer to say, a newer DKC game (relatively basic core abilities being tested via level design variety) than most Sonic titles, but even in something like Sonic 3 & Knuckles could be described as having a simple core that's made complex via the levels.
Why are you comparing the games...if you were just trying to say about Lost World's control, could've just said it.
Lost World's control got janke...janke...janke
It's understandable.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I've said this before and I'll say it again
Sonic Lost World's base controls would've been improved significantly if Sonic's speed forms were a shift when you run for long enough, and the run button be changed into a parkour button
I do writing, feel free to check out my stories here! https://numbugwritingblog.tumblr.com/post/686233243868102656/numbugs-shared-heroic-uniI wouldn't mind a Switch port of Lost World.
Sega doesn't rerelease their 3D games much, at least to console. I assume it's an emulation issue. They rerelease the Classic games all the time. I'd like a 2006 rerelease but that'll never, ever happen.
That, and due to most of the 3D games having bad reputations that SEGA saw fit to de-list. Telling that both Adventure games have gotten rereleases while Heroes and Unleashed have not despite increasing desire from fans (well, Unleashed did become backwards compatible with Xbox 1, but that's also not really a rerelease)
I'd much rather not have Sonic 06 be rereleased. Even if all the bugs and glitches were fixed... That game is still a horrible embarrassment of a train wreck that is still damaging this franchise's reputation even after all this time without rereleases or ports. And is pretty much the sole reason why this series tossed away every single character except for Sonic, Tails, and Eggman, and went into the direction it had been going since 2010
I'm just going to say, I already hate the discussions, reviews, and other nonsense people do with Sonic 06 (and please note, this will be the last time I ever talk about Sonic 06, on here at least) because the game had long since become irrelevant and just needs to be forgotten and die already. A rerelease would ensure we never hear the end of that mistake :/
Yeah, no, that rerelease would have to be a remastering of the highest degree. Of course, YMMV on the story, but the gameplay itself and the ideas they had in mind sound great, if not excellent, on paper (as those videos about a fan made PC version of 06 can attest).
Better yet, SEGA could probably cut the middle man and just be like "hey, we see you've made our game from 2006 be genuinely playable, wanna help us make official versions of your recreation for PC and also PS4, Xbox One, and Switch?"
But I digress.

Sonic Lost World's odd controls were brought up, and I just so happened to discover this mod to improve the game:
Does this mean the snowball level is just gone?
We're getting five new remixes: https://twitter.com/sonic_hedgehog/status/1088216039014318080.
And the first one has arrived

Has nothing to do with genre, they're both platformers.
