[up][up]Wouldn't surprise me at all - Mega Mind has really well-developed characters.

Nice to see that the reception is good.

And yeah, you can really feel the Trailers Always Lie vibe to it.

I find it a bit pretentious of them to disable commenting ability on all their Dreamworks TV You Tube videos!

[up] I can agree with you on that. I also think that Dream Works TV fakes their views and likes/dislikes, considering that a few of their videos are posted on other channels that have very low views.

And this isn't anything new with me with kids TV networks, but I cannot get into their content. ... since... you know... they're for KIDS.

So it turns out this might happen. Any thoughts on what it would mean for the company?

  • shrugs* no sense to worry until the deal happened. It was to be expected...even the critical acclaimed outings of Dream Works weren't the successes they wanted. In General, I don't think too highly of Katzenberg as CEO. He is way too much about pandering to the audience and not enough about taking risks.

What would change if Dreamworks were purchased by SoftBank?

If someone owned them, their financial position might be a little more secure.

Is it likely to change anything about the movies they produce?

................ fine.

Dreamworks has always expressed interest in starting a channel, and Hasbro just had its own network yanked from underneath them. A joint venture could be beneficial. And they could also exchange properties to develop into movies, games, etc.

it was only reading this thread that it occurred to me that Over the Hedge was a Dreamworks movie. That's one more good thing under their belt, I guess.

Personally I still think Road to El Dorado is their best film, and easily one of the greatest animated films of all time.

Given how neither film got a sequel and they never ever talk about them, I doubt Dreamworks thinks those 2 are hits.

Somehow I've seen far more DW films than Pixar. The first Toy Story is the only Pixar I've seen in full.

When DW hits, they really knock it out. Both HTTYD's and Kung Fu Pandas are good pairs.

Probably because there ARE far more Dreamworks films than Pixar.

I like a lot of their stuff. I really enjoyed Megamind and was disappointed it didn't do better than it did. I liked most of Shrek and was thrilled when they finally released the musical on DVD. I enjoyed the Dragon movies and watched the TV show on DVD as well. And I thought Monsters vs. Aliens was reasonably fun.

I think we knew this already.

We have a new voice for Peabody (so Ty is THAT kind of actor), and we get our first glimpse into the animation style that probably SHOULD have been used the first time. ... in fact, this move probably should have arrived BEFORE the movie!
