Aurora:<Guess we should start looking.>

-Herbert looks around, realises that there's no way out, sighs, and decides he might as well die an honest man-

Herbert: I told her that she had no right to assign Des the moral high ground. I told her that she had no right to call me out for being a jerk when Des had done far worse than steal Pokemon. And I told her than someone like that... someone like that didn't deserve defending.

White Forest

Since when did that get there?

-Points at the giant tree-

Route 16

Jacob: "....I see. Well then," -Snaps, causing the Protect to drop, and he throws Herbert towards Des-

"See to it that you don't make her cry again. I apologize if this was offensive, but no one is allowed to hurt Elityria." -Recalls Argentum and has Regina teleport Des and Herbert to the White Forest, then recalls her-

"No one."

-Walks back to Nimbasa-

Des is a little dumbfounded.

Des: ...well now. Let's look for that Eevee, shall we?

White Forest

-Herbert collapses on the floor somewhere near Tagg after the teleportation, and looks around hurriedly-

Herbert: Wait a minute, I'm not dead? That's... well, it certainly wasn't what I was expecting.

-he stands up, and brushes himself off-

Herbert: Um, hello again, everyone. Do we have any idea where to search yet? I still don't have any mons on me, so I'm afraid I won't be much help.

Every's House

(to Joseph) Not really sure...(to Mezzo) What's it say?

Admittedly weirder things have happened.

-Starts dousing again-

White Forest

Herbert: We should probably get searching, shouldn't we? If you hear a girlish shriek, that's probably me being eaten alive.

-he walks deeper into the forest, pauses for a second, and looks back at Des-

Herbert: And Des... I know what you're trying to do, sticking up for me like that. It's not going to work. Some things never change. Some crimes are never forgiven. But... you have my thanks, at the least.

White Forest

Des: It doesn't matter who would have been in that situation, I would've jumped to their aid in an instant. I'm not tryin' to gain back your trust, I just did what was right. Still, I appreciate the sentiment.

Des tips his hat to Herbert then begins to search for Blythe.

-Herbert continues poking around the trees for a while, before stopping and thinking for a moment-

Herbert: ...You know, if I'm giving out grudging gratitude to people I hate, I might as well not leave anyone out.

-Herbert walks up to Tagg, and starts talking without looking him in the eye-

Herbert: Hey Tagg. DS came and talked to me a couple of days ago. She told me about how you helped take down Team Galactic. And I wanted to thank you for that. You have my gratitude for putting that scumbag Neptune behind bars. Team Galactic were - are - a threat to the entire universe. Everything done to take them down is something I appreciate.

-he turns away from Tagg-

Herbert: Don't think this means I've suddenly taken a liking to you, though. Stay out of my way and out of my sight, I'll do the same for you, and we'll get along just fine.

Every's House

Hmm... this evening at the fairgrounds, it says. Not much else.

Sunny: <This is a special occasion! You should wear that dress you got!>

Um... sure, I could. Just give me a moment to get dressed.

Very well, but thanks.

Duke and Lyuri are walking around the quite big festival apart from everyone else, looking at all the stalls and the people walking around, they stood close one to the other, both being rather quiet as they were simply admiring the place.

“Wow, I think I’ve never been in something like this before…” said Duke, breaking the silence as he looked around.

“I can’t say the same, but it’s been a while since I’ve last been in one.” said Lyuri, also looking around with a small smile on her face “They’re even selling cotton candy here, among… Many other things.” she added, with a chuckle.

“Want one then?” Duke asked, now looking at Lyuri.

“Well… I never managed to eat one of those by myself, I like it, but it’s too much for me.” she said, chuckling nervously.

“We can share one then, I’m not sure if I’m going to like it myself.” suggested Duke.

Lyuri then starts to blush a bit“… Yeah, share some food together…” she said, rather nervous.

Some minutes later, Lyuri and Duke are walking around, Duke carrying the cotton candy cone and both of them sharing it, each one eating it from one side. In the meantime, Sakura was with Daisuke, trying to keep track of them using Teleport to be aware of where they were going at the same time that she was finishing her own plans.

“So, this is great and all, but is there anything to do here other than eat?” asked Lyuri, before taking a bite of the cotton candy.

“Well…” said Duke as he quickly looked around and saw one of the baseball throwing games “There’s that I guess.” he said, pointing at it.

“Oh, those things, you think you can get something for you?” asked Lyuri, almost in a teasing way.

“Doesn’t hurt to try does it?” said Duke, with a smile on his face.

They then go to the stall and Duke pays to be able to pay it, Lyuri explained him what he had to do and first tried to play the game herself, but she ended hitting only the top can, much to her dismay.

“Ugh, I just can’t win at this kind of game.” said Lyuri, rather upset by her loss.

“My turn then, this seems pretty easy.” said Duke, with a confidant grin as he got ready for throwing one of the balls.

Duke launches the ball with quite a bit of strength in it, and he hits the targets, dropping them all in a single shot, Lyuri could only stare at the scene as she saw it.

“Can’t beat someone who has been throwing Aura Spheres around since ever.” she thought, looking at Duke with a smile in her face as he was getting a prize for beating the game “It feels so awkward being in love with a Pokémon, but I think I stopped thinking of Duke as a Pokémon long before, even before he became a human.”

She then started to blush as Duke approached her carrying what looked like a big Floatzel plushie “It seemed like the best one there, you seem to like this more than I, so here, for you.” he said, handing the plushie to Lyuri, who slowly took it.

“… Thanks Duke, I-I think Sakura likes the Floatzel line more than I do, so I guess I’ll give this to her.” said her, blushing and looking away from him “’’Then why do I feel this awkward…?’’”

“Seems like the best choice, you don’t want your tough girl image to be ruined by this, right?” he asked in an almost mocking tone, chuckling for a bit.

“Yeah yeah, can we-“

Lyuri was then interrupted by a loud explosion, they then noticed a bunch of fireworks exploding in the sky, much to their amazement, they stood watching them in awe for a few seconds before Duke broke it again by glancing at Lyuri

“That’s quite the sight isn’t it?” he asked, with a wide smile

“Y-Yeah, shame we can’t get a bit higher to look at it from closer, i-it would be good to see them from a closer distance since they’re so pretty…” said Lyuri, blushing a bit as she saw Duke smile and feeling rather awkward “Now would be a good time… But I just can’t bring myself to-”

“How about we try to see everything from the Ferris wheel, it’s close by, so we just need to run a bit.” suggested Duke, interrupting Lyuri’s thoughts.

“Y-Yeah! We could do that!” said Lyuri, still quite nervous “So, we’ll be alone there, that’s… Perfect… I guess…”

Duke then guides Lyuri to the Ferris Wheel as fast as he could, as the sound of the fireworks were the only sound they could hear while going there, each pause between a set of fireworks was very silent and dark, but they eventually arrived at the Ferris Wheel and boarder one of the cars together as the show resumed.

“I think it’s at least been a while since I’ve seen fireworks.” commented Duke, watching all the fireworks with a serene smile on his face.

Lyuri was right beside him, also looking at the firecrackers, but she wasn’t too focused on them, but they were still impressive to look at the time “Come on, this is the perfect chance! Tell him!” she thought, still as red as she could get as she was now looking down a bit “… I’m so afraid… I can’t do this, what if he says “no”…?” she thought, glancing at Duke for a moment and seeing him smile at all the firecrackers, she couldn’t help but feel happy for him “At least he seems to be enjoying himself, I guess I should’ve let him do more stuff when he was a Lucario… Who knows, maybe then I could be more certain of what he would tell me…”

They continued their ride on the Ferris Wheel, as much as Duke was liking it, he was rather bothered by something, and that was what he could feel about Lyuri, she was looking so nervous and conflicted, was it because of the height? He thought she had already gotten over it, but if it wasn’t it, what WAS it?

Soon, the last firework flew and did a big and beautiful explosion with all the flares spreading, shortly after that, the ride ended and they got out, both remaining in silence. Sakura was hiding behind a nearby tree along with Daisuke and saw everything, she soon teleported out while Duke just tried to fake a smile to Lyuri.

“I didn’t help with a thing, didn’t I?” he thought, he wanted to sigh, but doing that in front of Lyuri wouldn’t be a good idea “Well, I think there isn’t much that can beat that experience, so, I’m guessing we’re gonna head out?” he asked, still trying to keep a smile.

“I think I'm gonna stay here for a little longer…” answered Lyuri, now looking quite down “’’There, I ruined my chance, and now time’s over, I wonder if Sakura at least enjoyed her time here, because I just wasted my time thinking I was brave enough to confess to the guy I like. I just wish I had Sakura could’ve helped me here…’’”

Duke looked a bit worried for a second, but he started to head back to the Pokémon Center, however Sakura was watching them from afar with some binoculars along with Daisuke and Lily, and there was a single firework next to them, Sakura then gestures to Lily so that she can fire it.

“Well, strike one was at the festival, strike two was at the Ferris Wheel, miss this one and you’re out, Lyuri.” said Sakura, with a small smile.

Lily then fires the firework at the sky and as it blows up, the sound catches Duke’s attention and he stops to look at it, as does Lyuri, but it was then that she got it.

“T-That must be the signal Sakura mentioned…! All right… Last chance now!” thought Lyuri, taking a deep breath “Duke!” she shouted, now knowing that it was either sink or swim now.

“Yes?” asked Duke, surprised with the sudden shout.

“I… There’s something I want to tell you… I’ve been wanting to say it for a while, but I never managed to and it was so frustrating…” she said, looking at the ground.

“Was that why you were so nervous back there? What is it? Did you do something wrong?” asked Duke, looking rather worried.

“Yes… I did.” she said, now looking at him with a smile “Not telling you this before, that’s what I did that was wrong…” she added, now starting to lose some courage and looking like she was struggling to do so “I… I… I love you!” she blurted out, now with her eyes closed as she waited for a response.

“Y-You mean…” said Duke, visibly shocked by the revelation “I… I… Sorry Lyuri, I don’t know what to say to that.” he said, losing his composure for once and looking quite nervous as well “It’s just that I… You… I never thought you…” he said, blushing.

Seeing Duke’s state, Lyuri let out a chuckle “Figures I’d be the one to break your composure like that.” she said, as she got closer to him “I just want to know…”

Lyuri then stole a kiss from Duke all of sudden, after all, she had nothing to lose there anymore, it was a long kiss that took Duke completely by surprise and just made him blush even more, but it didn’t take long for him to get calmer, Lyuri then broke off the kiss and looked at Duke, somewhat embarrassed and with a small smile.

“… Do you want to be my boyfriend?” she asked, not feeling sure of what to do anymore, she just had to wait.

Duke was just staring at Lyuri with a look that made it clear that he was having a hard time thinking of something to say to her.

“This is the girl who helped me out in ways I don’t think even she realized it yet…”

“I just thought that she liked me the same way she liked her sister, and I thought I liked her in the same way.”

“I’ve never had any experience with love whatsoever, so I don’t know how it feels to be in love with someone.”

“But maybe… Maybe I can learn, I’m always up to learning something new, and I’m definitely feeling something different now.”

“Maybe I didn’t think it would happen because she's a human and I'm a Pokémon, so I never thought she would feel this way towards me, now that I know, I don’t know… I feel so… Happy, happy that probably the most important person in my life feels this way about me.”

“I'm feeling so strange now, to the point where I can think even look at anything but her, what she just did and said, I never thought it would happen, so maybe these are feelings I just didn't think I'd need... But now I can put these feelings to use.”

Duke then smiled to Lyuri, a very warm smile and tried to be as direct as he could.

“Yes.”
