Rapid Strike Urshifu Li Jing: <Very well.>

Single Strike Urshifu Xuannu: <State your business, emissaries.>

Right. Venerable Ones, I have been sent here by the Legendary Council to reestablish contact with the legendaries of Galar. As you would be the first Urshifu to be established here in centuries, it's of great importance for you to agree.

Yew: <All this pomp and circumstance, give me a break...>

Li Jing: -Thoughtfully- <They wish for us to join the Council? After taking this long to send someone?>

We were a bit... delayed.

Xuannu: <We may do so, but first, we need to test you.>

Another test?

Li Jing: <Rakshasa.>

Rakshasa: -Looking up- <Yes, Master?>

Li Jing: <You will stay with Tagg and his Pokémon for the duration of their stay at the Isle of Armor.>

Xuannu: <If they manage to pass the tests needed for you to achieve your full potential, we will... join the Council.>

Cross: <It's a bit hard to fight like this!>

-Gale laughs to herself as Kamui gets settled in on messing with the stream-

Alright folks. You guys have fun watching good good fox while I prep this.

Wild Area Cliffs, Later

-Gale Knight had heard the rumors. Or to be more precise, she had seen one of the videos her quarry had made. It had been tough keeping it quiet, she didn't know how much was preserved beyond a general vibe the two gave off-

-And then a little bird told her of these cliffs and the cave within them. Gale Knight thought it was worth the risk. She needed another chef, and there was something right about what she was about to do-

-With one last heave, she reached the top of the rope and stepped into the darkened cavern. For a moment, all was silent and still and the light had no purchase-

I've come seeking a chef.

-The shadows shifted, but not in the way Gale was familiar with. Some great mass camouflaged by the pitch black of the cavern moved, the texture of scale slipping past before two glowing orange eyes regarded her from high up in the dark. Whatever was in here, it knew she was coming from the moment she began the climb-

???: If you cross the [Channel] you will find yourself in Kalos. There are many chefs there, my dude.

-The voice was large, rumbling deepness far beyond what a human could make but in human language regardless. The shadows flickered slightly, like smoke. This creature regarding the mortal who so brazenly stepped into its lair was something purposely shrouding itself in mystery to drive off the heavy hand of Translation-

I know what you are, I know who you are. And I could see no one better to-

-Reflexes kicked in quickly, Gale dodging to the side as a streak of pale purple light bolted from the black and collided with the wall next to the cave entrance. Where it landed, a field of desaturated reality hung in a sphere, missing Gale just barely-

???: You are lucky that my other half is not here, thug. Or else I would have banished you rather than silencing you. Why do you believe I would be interested in anything you can offer me?

-Gale held fast, even after the brazen near-attack on her person-

I'm cooking a dragon's feast, one that's going to get a lot of TV coverage. And there might be karaoke.

-The shadows unwound, somewhat. The large glowing orange eyes in the dark vanished as the texture in the black mist shrunk and spun. In moments, the large mass that occupied the cavern was gone and as light was allowed purchase what took its place was revealed: A familiar figure, one of ashen skin and orange eyes and a grace only emphasized by a mildly intimidating tallness. And of course, a pair of long horns poking through holes in the brim of a floppy wizard's hat-

A road in the wild area, cliffs region

Tommy and Jane are in a dune buggy and are lost on the way to cover a cooking event for trainers.

Jane: We should stop and ask for directions.

Tommy: I agree. I mean, we clearly are in the Wild Area and we drove off the road like half an hour ago. It's a miracle none of the wild Pokémon tried to approach us.

Jane: And they said the dune buggy was a bad idea.

Tommy: I'm just glad I remember how to drive one. Think we can find someone in time?

Jane: Can't you sense someone?

Tommy: I could try but I'm not that good at that auric stuff.

Jane: Understood.

Tommy: Oh hey, someone's right up ahead.

Jane: That was quick. See, believe in yourself. If not, then believe in me who believes in you.

Tommy: Gotcha.

They drive toward Gale.

Ballonlea, Evelyn's House

Hoops is still standing in the doorway, and they shake their head when they are asked if they are hungry. They are soon betrayed by the loud gurgle of their stomach though.

Kec: <You know, you're allowed to go in.>

Hoops: It's just... look at all the others. So upbeat and so easily interacting, all in one place. It's intimidating.

Kec: <I know, but I'm here. Just start with the basics, and just do what you're comfortable with.>

Hoops takes a deep breath and walks into the house proper. They make a big show of looking around the room.

Hoops: May I say, you have a lovely home Mrs Evelyn's Mum.

They speak in a formal way which makes them sound about forty years old, which the seem to realise and shift awkwardly.

Silas nodded and rolled his head, <Your powers are supposedly obscuric, emulating an auric isn't exactly likely. Bishop? If you would?>

Bishop flew over to a speaker system and plugged Silas's phone in, "You're good to go Captain."

The beat started, Silas stared ahead at the Dummies, and dashed forward, seemingly disappearing in the blink of an eye. He reached the first dummy and slammed into it with a force palm, the dummy bucked and broke as Silas flipped around it to toss a aura sphere right into the other.

Hacks applauded a bit, smirking as Silas continued.

Silas clasped his paws and summoned a bone like staff as he swung it into another Dummy before tossing it through another.

"The Captain has been practicing."

~I make sure he does.~

At the last set, Silas stopped, and clasped his paws once more. Hacks rolled his eyes, especially as Silas suddenly started going, <Kaaaa-meeeee! Haaaaaa-meeeeeeee! HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!>

He shot his paws forward and a massive blue beam shot from his hands, the last set were vaporized and the wall was pretty scarred by the end result. Silas exhaled, and his left arm hissed as steam seemed to vent from it, he shook it a bit.

<Okay, how's that for a demonstration?>

Community Center

Daydre whistles.

"Yeah, that is impressive. I'm definitely not gonna be able to emulate that, but I wasn't expecting to be able to in the first place."

She stretches and steps forward.

"I guess it's my turn now?"

<By all means, Go ahead," Silas said pulling his scarf off, rolling his shoulder.

~Seriously, why do you do that chant?~

Silas smirked, "It's to help me focus, do you know what it's like to channel that much aura in your body?"

~You are lying!~

Silas gestured for Daydre to go ahead as Hacks continued to be frustrated.

Community Center

"Ooookay..."

Imagine it like a liquid, imagine it like a liquid...

She focuses, specifically trying to get it to come out through the belt. It doesn't seem like anything's happening at first. But then a small stream of Obscura emerges from the vent on the belt.

".. Oh, hey."

Silas gave a thumbs up and set the dummies up, "Go right ahead. Let's see what you can do."

Ballonlea, Evelyn's House

Agnes: -smiles- Why, thank you, Hoops. I'm glad you like it.

Evelyn: Shall I get everything ready for when it's time to get some rest?

Agnes: Yes, thank you Evelyn.

-Evelyn runs off to get the sleeping arrangements ready.-

Agnes: As for our guests, I'd like to hear how your journey has been so far.

Huh, so this does make things easier.

... I'm not sure why I'm surprised.

Daydre tries manipulating the stream to strike the dummy.

... It weakly slaps against the dummy, not really doing much. It's something, at least.

Ballonlea Gym

Daydre comes out of the gym, sighing. Rowan walks along beside her.

"Well, that could've gone better."

Rowan: <You sure you don't want me to help out?>

"Nah, I want to stay... around the right experience level for these gyms, at least for now. If I ever get to the champion tournament all bets are off, though."

Rowan: <Mm, alright then.>

"Wasn't expecting Troublesome to get knocked out so early.. I probably should've expected people to like. Actually pay attention to my other matches and predict what strategies I would use."

Rowan: <They do seem to make these battles a bit more of an event than most regions huh?>

Daydre snorts. "Yeah, you got that right."

Out of the corner of her eye she notices that same girl she saw at the first gym being interviewed by a reporter. The girl smiles cheerfully and answers questions with a pep Daydre probably wouldn't be able to muster.

Guess I shouldn't be too surprised I'm seeing her a second time. It's not like there's any other order to do these gyms in.

Reporter: "So, challenger Aislinn! How're you feeling about that last match? Being back on your home turf must feel good, right?"

??? Aislinn: "Yeah! It has been nice seeing some familiar faces again. I didn't realize just how long I'd been on the road until I got back here, haha."

Reporter: "Any particular haunts you're glad to visit again?"

Aislinn: "Oh, I'm really glad I can spend more time at my sponsor's store, actually! The owner's a close friend of mine and she made my uniform for me. It's called Mushraiments, make sure to stop by sometime!"

Reporter: "Hahaha, I'll be sure to take a visit. It seems like we're almost out of time- do you have anything else you want to say to the audience before we go?"

Aislinn: "Yeah!"

There's an almost imperceptible shift to her expression. She's still smiling, but it feels.. Off, somehow. Like a threat.

Aislinn: "I know you're out there, so listen closely. You got the wrong mask, dumbass. If you want the real one..."

She pulls out a mask. It looks almost like a skull, but with a foxlike patterning to it. It looks to be made of metal, and jagged spikes decorate the sides of the face.

Aislinn: "You're going to have to come kill me for it. You've got blood on your hands already, what's a little more?"

... All of this said in the same cheerful tone she used for the rest of the interview. The reporter has a very 'cut the cameras I was not planning for this outcome' look on her face and quickly starts trying to save face.

Reporter: "W-well, that was Aislinn Yeh everyone! Doesn't she have a funny sense of humor? Look forward to her next matches!"

The reporter and her cameraman awkwardly wave goodbye and hurry away. Aislinn waves back, as if the last minute or so didn't just happen.

Daydre looks at Rowan. Rowan looks at Daydre.

Daydre: "You heard that too right? I didn't just slip into my own imagination for a second?"

Rowan: <My hearing is significantly better than yours, I definitely heard that.>

Daydre: "... So you're concerned too right?"

Rowan: <Oh, very.>

... And why does the name Yeh sound so familiar?
