This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules - tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

It's why like how in Spider-Gwen Gwen is the goofy one and Harry is the serious one.
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"Gwen is goofy when she isn't influenced by her symbiote.
Mileena MadnessTo be fair, in Spider-Man/Deadpool stories, Spidey plays Straight Man and The Paragon for Deadpool, who feels about Spidey the way Spidey often feels about "major league" Avengers and such.
Cortez, if the book was "selling well" it would'nt be relaunching. I've seen the top 500 and it's almost always the lowest selling Spider-book. Digital sales mean jack. And at best the book is getting a tepid reaction from what I've scoured on forums.
I DID read the article, that's why I said it would be easier for them to cancel the title without abandoning Gwen in her own universe. She can just end up trapped permanently on 616 and interact with everyone with minimal dimension-hopping fuss. They're slowly preparing the audience for that, it's blatant.
As for why Gwen couldn't be a supporting player for Miles...erm, you do know the plan for the second Into the Spider-Verse movie is to adapt the story where they were an item for a while right? Miles and Gwen will be paired up to synchronise with that film when it comes out the way Marvel aligns with anything else coming out...and people can break up with their interests, who they're with now are by no means intended to be permanent (and let's face it, who really thinks Harry stands a chance with Gwen?)

Now it just seems like you don't know how this works, no offense.
Like the first volume was relaunched and it certainly wasn't because of sales and the second volume went for 34 issues and relaunched into the third because of the new creative team that was coming in.
So yeah, saying that it wouldn't be getting relaunched if it was selling well is beyond ridiculous, since books get relaunched for various reasons.
And it doesn't seem like you read the article or kept up with the book, since Gwen taking up the mantel of Ghost-Spider is something they have been building for. There's no deeper meaning.
And it doesn't seem like you are keeping up with Miles book either, otherwise you would know how unlikely her ending up as a supporting character is. Since Miles already has a love interest and he's in high school, while Gwen is in college.
As for synergy, they only do that for MCU films, which Spider-Verse isn't and Gwen isn't called Ghost-Spider in the Spider-Verse film anyway, she's just Spider-Woman.
It's really just seems like you're jumping to conclusions and you don't really have any basis for any of these speculations.
Anyone who read the book. Earth-65 Harry isn't like 616 Harry.
Now that's just nonsense. No offense, but i can't take you seriously if you believe that.
They wouldn't be selling comics and trades digitally if they didn't matter. C'mon man, if it "didn't mean jack" they wouldn't bother doing it.
That hasn't been my experience and even then, you do realize that forums don't make up the majority of the fandom, right? Not everyone spends much time on forums or at all.

"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"Are you really justifying reducing Gwen to a Love Interest (one of the biggest insults you could ever receive as a character) just because of Movie Synergy?
That makes me retch, it makes me somewhat nauseous.
Edited by slimcoder on May 17th 2019 at 2:39:25 AM
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Plus pretty ridiculous, since they only synergize with the MCU films.
Also, in the current run she gained the innate ability to travel between dimensions. If the goal was only to move her to the 616, they wouldn't need a new book. With all due respect to Zarius, he's clearly overthinking this and jumping to conclusions.

"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"I mean this would not be happening if they just revived 616 Gwen like intended so...
Mileena MadnessSo I just read If This Be My Destiny.
Man, Seinfeld Is Unfunny. It's a good, solid plot, well-executed, hits all the right notes, but I feel like I've seen it a million times. Does it have a trope name?
slimcoder, sorry to disgust you, I just know this company ain't above that
Edited by Zarius on May 17th 2019 at 10:42:17 AM
That would definitely be one of the worse things Marvel would do.
Okay maybe not the worst ever but still pretty bad.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Arguing for Gwen to be downgraded to just being a love interest for Miles makes about as much since as arguing to downgrade Miles to be a supporting character for Kamala Khan.
Like merchandising wise, both Gwen and Miles have become significant enough characters in the Spider-office to warrant keeping them in their own ongoing books. Marvel isn't going to demote a character just for the sake of it, or because people are posting apathetically about the character on comic book message board.
Making me remember to pour one out for Gwenpool's book.
Edited by Lionheart0 on May 17th 2019 at 5:42:13 AM
Gwenpool is in need of some love indeed. Why hasn't she even met Spider-Gwen?
Mileena MadnessI imagine that will end up happening at some point in Gwen's new book.
One of the benefits of dividing her time between the 616 and Earth-65.
×5
Again, that only true with MCU films and even then, not always. I mean, they still haven't introduced a female Ghost.

"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"People exaggerate movie synergy too much. The synergy is basically, "This character's going to be in a movie, let's make sure they show up in a comic." So we can expect a big Mysterio story coming up, but they're not going to make him like the movie version.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Mysterio is in Symbiote Spider-man.
They also revealed Ghost-Spider will face off against Arcade as part of the Acts of Evil series of one shots.
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"So is Symbiote Spider-Man another AU, or is it just a decompression of Peter's time with the black suit?
My various fanfics.Oh right, I forgot about Symbiote Spider-Man. Well, there you go. And it's not based on the movie version of Mysterio, right?
So yeah, the synergy isn't about having characters match their movie versions, it's just putting out comics with the charactrs.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Seems like the latter. We've had previous stories focusing on the symbiote's POV during the black suit era, so it's not too new.
The Absolute Carnage tie-ins unveiled.
I'm Surprised Immortal Hulk is getting a tie in, the book has mostly stayed away from events.
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"It's not really a tie-in, certain titles will just have Carnage-centric backup stories in them ala that "Where is Wolverine?" thing from a while back.
Moar◊
Edit: Oh, wait, that new list does include an Absolute Carnage: Immortal Hulk.

So is ASM only going to be once-a-month across September and October, or is just a case of the second issue of September and first of October tying in?
everything since issue 35 of spider-man/deadpool is non canon now anyways so silk can still be a dorky loser.
