That gets you thermal shock. It's decent. My favorite combo is the Levitator + Flamethrower. Shreds moving targets to pieces.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI'm just hoping to balance precision and siege/explosive weapons without having to swap weapons too much.
That's not going to work. You only get the two active at a time, and you will absolutely need to hotswap if you want to not die a lot. The Arwing is very fast and can recharge its weapons very fast, but (especially early on) it is made of paper. If you play as some of the others and have good mods on them you might survive with little hotswapping but you do want to optimize on the fly.
Gravity weapons are good for heavy slow enemies and can be used to great effect against stationary structures with lots of hp, especially if combined with fire or frost; homing weapons are good for fast enemies. Levitator is wasted on stationary structures. Kinetic weapons damage everything evenly, but are super nerf against anything with "shield" anywhere in the name. Use gravity on those guys.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youYou can just pause the game and swap from the start menu. However, if you are using the toy, you do have to have the toy part to do the swap. I'd forgo using the toy during intense fights. hook up the toy the first time to unlock all your stuff, but then just stick with using the digital versions after that.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youSounds like good Idea to use. ^^
Currently too lazy to switch pics... Although, it's cute, shut upWell, the Volcano Gatling and Frost Missiles are working wonders for me. Never really needed to switch out of those.
Also at the part where the Legion is getting serious. I've spent quite a few resources building armories on each planet I've been to to keep them off.
I actually haven't been using the Arwing; instead, I've stuck with the Zenith. And played as Mason for a good chunk of the game.

So just some random thoughts I was thinking about, but does anyone else think that the series would benefit greatly from being given more RPG elements? Maybe even more focus on open-world exploration and missions. When this was done for Zelda it breathed new life into the franchise. While I don't see it launching Fox and co. into A-Lister status like Link has been and is currently, more people generally are interested in RP Gs over rail-shooters, and the genre shift could bring in new fans and give the series a needed face-lift.
Also sorry if that was a little rambly; I'm just musing aloud here, not compiling a compelling essay.

"Can't make an omelette without breaking some children." -BurI think Starlink proves the format is a great basis for a potentially fantastic game
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI liked the RPG elements as they are, but some expansion would be nice. A more developed skill tree, maybe one or two more active abilities for each character, and definitely more weapons. While I love the "level up the weapons to level up the character" system (Warframe does the same thing), there just aren't enough of them. Probably because they leaned too hard on the toy side.
And while I liked the filler generic missions, more story mission chains would be nice. I think there were... four? The main mission, the side mission of finding St. Grand's logs, the Swarm thing, and Star Fox. In a game like this, I think every playable character needs their own mission chain. Or at the very least one mission.
Starlink just proves that if done right we can have good Star Fox games again that aren't retreads of 64. Zero was solid, but had a lot of problems that kept it from really being successful.
The gyroscopic aiming was fine. The problem with Zero was that you had to divide your attention between two different screens and humans cannot truly multitask. It might have worked on the DS since those screens are right next to each other and both are always in your field of view but the same cannot be said for the Wii U.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I disliked both the gyroscopic aiming and the awkward dual screens. They'd be bad enough on their own but combined they really exacerbated each other's problems.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! It doesn't help that the game more or less forces you to use gyro controls in addition to using two screens at once. What a disaster. It's instances like these that make me hope they go away completely. But who am I kidding? People have fallen in love with that abomination of a control scheme.
Anyone else hoping the Starlink team gets to make a new Star Fox game? I think they really have both a reverence for the original material and also a willingness to adapt the series into new grounds.
I will say in relation to what Starlink did, it feels like the base of the next breakthrough Star Fox game has been made. Multiple weapon types, ship/gun modding, open world exploration via planets, and a sense of solar system that's constantly active.
The next game building on that via utilizing more dynamic enemies, a deeply involved story, greater contrast with planet climates/effects, and utilizing a few select rail shooter segments (perhaps in specific spots not unlike BOTW's shrines) and it really would feel like the next step of the franchise.
I agree, though I wouldn't mind Platinum being given another chance. From what I've heard, much like what happened with Team Ninja and Other M, the motion controls, forced dual-screen features, and the idea to retread the same basic Star Fox plot was out of their hands, so I'm not comfortable on placing all the blame entirely on them. Especially since Kamiya also has a love for the series that I feel was squandered by a lot of things he didn't have much control over while making Zero, plus I know he wanted to use Krystal in a future game if he's able to make it.
But yeah, Star Fox's crew feels right at home with Starlink's gameplay, and I kind of feel like the game is rather reminiscent to how Star Fox 2 played. The main thing missing from Starlink is... well, good music. What's there is... good enough (I do like the music for fighting Primes and Dreadnoughts, but most of what's there is a bit too minimalistic for my tastes), but I'm used to having more bombastic music in games where Star Fox is present (amusingly enough, the Star Fox-specific missions in Starlink do use a couple of remixed/rearranged versions of Star Fox music, but the new take on Boss Battle B in particular threw me for a loop).

They could start by adding new content to the original game. Such as new sidequests, and I'm pretty sure new pilots will be added in the future.
I think I'd like to see the Corridor Mode used more in a traditional Star Fox game. Like say, perhaps the occasional underground base, or certain sidequests. I think, one thing that feels incredibly off about the idea of this being the direction Star Fox should take though, is that there's actually very little dogfighting. I was pretty disappointed that all planetside combat was ground-based, without any need to engage enemies in atmospheric flight.
Here's an imgur gallery that contains the Nintendo Power adaptation of the first Star Fox game. I really hope this gets a reissue like the Super Mario Adventures comic did in 2016.
I've always wanted a big multiplayer Star Fox with a Co-Op campaign, each player controlling one of the Wingmates.
There was a planned Star Fox for the Triforce Arcade Board, but it seemed to never get beyond the initial screenshot, possibly because of F-Zero AX's failure?
RE: brb1006
Nintendo Power had some good comics back in the day.
Anyone else notice how suspiciously organic Andross's android pig parents look(Link◊)? I always wondered if Pepper's predecessor was corrupt?
What was Miyamoto's exact role in Dinosaur Planet becoming Star Fox Adventures? Some people say he insisted on the change and others say he simply commented on the resemblance and Rare made the leap themselves.
Possibly because the fox character in Dinosaur Planet reminded him of Fox in Star Fox.
Sabre is a wolf.
I know that, I meant "What was Miyamoto's actual suggestion?". Did he say "Turn this into Star Fox" or was it more along "This reminds me of Star Fox" and the Rare team decided to change the game themselves.
I'm going along with "This reminds me of Star Fox" and Rare team decided to change the game themselves.
I was also told to combine the Volcano Gatling and the Frost Barrage.
