The Last Story

I'm about to go pick mine up actually. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Well, last night the Gamestop I preordered it from called and said they expected to get their shipment this afternoon. So hopefully I'll be able to get it today.

Got my copy. Maybe in a month or two I'll find one to actually play, too, because I'm never opening this one.

Finally got my copy! Off to play it.

Anyone else freaked out by the faces? They didn't look that bad in screenshots but they freak me out when they move.

Also these voices are so far off from headcanon voices it's not even funny. Well, maybe not Miriana.

One of my perceived problems with this game is that they went way too big on the graphics in places where it doesn't matter, making the game run laggy, and compromised on the parts where it did matter, like face animations that now look rather out of place.

Seriously, the game looks good enough, as long as nothing moves. Especially the faces.

The combat system is throwing me for a loop. So let me get this straight, I can't attack while guarding even when I'm locked on? I also have a hard time attacking because I keep activating dive accidentally.

I didn't notice anything wrong with the facial animations. They're at least better than Xenoblade's.

Does anyone know where the gear shop is? Because goddamn Dagran needs some different pants.

Also: "What are you waiting for? Get in the bath with them!" Lowell is rapidly proving himself to be the best character.

There's a gear shop? So far all I've been able to find is the weapon, upgrade, and dye shops.

Speaking of that last one did anybody else spend about 15 minutes just messing around with different color schemes for their characters?

Yeaaah, Pandora's Tower and Last Story slightly threw me off guard with accents. I mean, its not like its bad thing, but I'm not used to it because apparently almost every English spoken game is dubbed in USA Also, Last Story is so.. Grey. I mean seriously. Palette could be better. Combat system is also kind of weird in Xenoblade and Last Story... In Pandora's Tower its slightly clearer but yeah.

They are kind of odd games Not really kind of games you would assume to have large hype for.

I find it odd that the soundtrack that I got for preordering leaves all the song names in Japanese...

I haven't gotten a chance to play the game much so far (I just got up to arriving at the bar in Lazulis), but I didn't find anything wrong with the facial animations...

Me neither. Maybe it's just happening a lot in the early ones but I actually think they're properly lip synched which is more than I can say for Xenoblade. Not that Xenoblade was bad mind you, I just think it could have used more work. Heck, I think the faces in this game are just plain better than Xenoblade's.

Eh, the current color palette doesn't really interest me. How hard is it to unlock new dyes?

It seems like you trade certain items for them so it likely depends on the item. Five seems to be the standard for how much you need but that's only for the first batch you can get (six or so).

You also need to complete two sidequests to unlock invisible dye.

Anyone else encounter this problem? I just completed the Realm of Ascendancy and got the island moving and now Zael is just sitting on a couch staring at his Outsider's Mark and nothing I do makes him get up. My controller's working fine, he just refuses to stand up.

Have you tried everything? Like, move the analog stick or anything?

Yep, every button and every direction for the control stick. I reset the system and didn't have any trouble with it after that though.

So what's everyone's progress in this so far? Right now I'm at the part where Jirall goes full Zant.

I just met Calista. I haven't really found time to play this game much yet.

I just got back to Lazulis after the whole section with the Gurak warship. Now I'm in jail.

One thing I noticed...the back of the box for the game says "Command up to a party of six"...and there are seven party members. So far the game's gotten around this by splitting them up, but now I'm kinda expecting something's gonna happen to one of them...

Without getting any farther than chapter four I'm assuming something happens to Dagran.

Don't highlight unless you wanna be spoiled: you guys are right on the money actually. Though you only have five party members for the final boss anyway.

Speaking of the final boss, it's third form just took a gigantic shit on my party.

You're already on the final boss? How long is this game again?

So you have five party members...prediction time.

One theory I have is that Dagran dies and a possessed Calista is the final boss. Or it could be the other way around and Calista dies or is otherwise incapacitated while Dagran is the final boss. Or they could both die/get incapacitated for reasons unknown.
