[up][up][up]I can't see the concept as Cyber Dragon at all. In my eyes, the concept is pretty clearly "Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragon if he wasn't gigantic".

[up][up]Yeah, man. That's the whole inspiration behind the archetype. Series like Maria Watches Over Us and other classic Yuri stuff.

[up]So, at first I agreed with you, but looking more closely I can see the Cydra in there. Like the tail, head and overall body plan look more like that they do Gadjiltron. And it would also explain why it's level 5. Though of course we're also referencing Gadjiltron here.

[up][up]So Demonsmith being Dante is obvious enough, then I guess the Link Monsters are the bosses he fights, his turning them into Equip Cards which he then wields in his Fusion Forms are like Dante getting Devilarms from killing Demons, and the Spells and Traps are his various "Styles". We still need something to represent his Devil Trigger form then.

The obvious next step in this Archetype would be to either give him the Devil Trigger form, or introduce a Vergil pastiche. If they want to go further than that, the question is if they'll go for Dante and Vergil's supporting cast first like Trish, Lady, Patty, Morrison, and Sparda, or if they'll go for the third lead Nero, and after that do all of their supporting cast, including Nero's like Kyrie, Nico, and V.

I think Demonsmith is more reminiscent of Sol Badguy or Ragna with a dash of Gungrave than Dante.

Thing is, Diabellestar already seemed to be a Ragna expy...

Actually is there any indication this new theme is tied to her?

None whatsoever. However Despair from the Dark seems to show up for the Link 2.

Judging from the set codes, this isn't a lore archetype, so I wouldn't expect any connection to Diabellestar here

And, in other news, New Drytron support

The demon on the Link 2 Demonsmith looks like a more advanced version of Fear from the Dark, but not as advanced as Despair from the Dark.

So, to spare you all the 50 minutes I spent trying to figure out what I was looking at, the new rank 4 is a big weird spider. Note the web in the background.

Oh god... that Xyz and CXyz... Looks like Thomas/IV is ready to bring his special brand of "Fanservice" directly now, even without a Number.

Allow me to do the honor: It's time for some FANSERVICE with Quattro's Duel Links theme.

Also early translations are coming up and I really hope you werent tired of Branded players giving you Nightmare locks, cause GP just got 3-4 new ways to do it themselves.

Gilphon Since: Oct, 2009
#25267: Mar 13th 2024 at 8:47:53 PM

So, they actually only have one way to do it themselves; the trap. The rest of it puts the Nightmare on the field during your turn, rather than your opponent's. Locking your opponent out of special summoning during your turn isn't nothing, of course, and it probably opens up some shenanigans with Geonader Transverser. But it's hardly what Branded has been doing.

Edit: Actually the trap doesn't do it either, the trap only lets you put an Xyz on your opponent's field.

Well thats what happens with early translations, oops. Things get lost. Whats happening instead is that you can fill your opponent's field with gimmick puppets to either burn them with grinder golem, or with good old String counter control. Apparently C Xyz Destiny Leo is also an option, as there are 2 card effects that help you detach faster.

Also I need everyone to appreciate how insane that field card is. Makes all Gimmick Puppets battle-immune and unaffected. Really pushing the limits of what you're allowed to put on an unsearchable field card

People legit start discussing Disaster Leo FTK because of these new cards, lmao

Damn that was fast. Seems like gimmick puppet burn FTK is real.

For some reason, the video isnt loading, so heres a link to the video

So. 'Immune to hand traps' is an exaggeration. You can hit the field card itself with Ash Blossom or Ghost Ogre, or stop GY effects with DD Crow or Ghost Belle, and none of it does anything to Imperm. But still scary, because sometimes you just won't open hand traps and they are some handtraps that are useless here, but I'd need to see if the deck has plays if the FTK is stopped before I panic.

Does, however, demonstrate that Disaster Leo is still not the way to go. It's possible now, but the fact remains that if you can deal 6000 damage, it's easier to deal an additional 2000 than it is to summon Disaster Leo and get the materials out from under him.

So we have Galaxy-eyes Tachyon and Trickstar for the LIGHT pack, so nothing else from ZEXAL or VRAINS... that leaves us with DM, GX, 5Ds, or ARC-V as potential sources for what the last archetype will be... and I can't really think of anything that would be applicable in GX or 5Ds, aside from like Cyber Dragon or the Nordics.
