Does it really have to be an energy weapon?: Wave Motion Gun

Does it need to be an Energy Weapon or would a giant Rail Gun like the MAC guns from Halo count? It serves the same basic purpose of a really powerful nose mounted weapon, but it doesn't fit the current description of Wave-Motion Gun.

You do realize that the very fact that Rail Gun is a bluelink means we already have a page for it, don't you? Why would you want to put an example on a different page? Rail Gun even includes the MAC by name in the very first sentence.

I'm referring to the function of the weapon on the ship. Rail Gun, unless it's changed since I read it last, is about Magnetic Weapons in aggregate, the same way Energy Weapons is about weapons that use energy. I'm unsure if being an energy weapon is a necessary component of "humongous nose mounted weapon of a ship" which I take to be the important component of Wave-Motion Gun.

Hm, upon rereading the trope, it might be better just to launch a new one.

Wave-Motion Gun is not actually about ship weapons at all, as far as I can tell. They can also be personal weapons or even magic spells. The important part is the giant death beam effect.

And I don't see anything in the description at all that says they have to be nose-mounted.

It does. You should take it to YKTTW. Link Rail Gun and Wave-Motion Gun in the description. I'll even help you flesh out the description if you want. We seem to work well doing that.
