Wasn't Rainbow Curse just Canvas Curse minus the justification as to why kirby can't walk on his own?

YES, it totally was.

But the only thing that actually mattered was the amount of scrolling levels.

And the soundtrack. Good stuff. Mostly Moonlight Capital and Heart Of Nova, but there were some other songs I liked.

How unfortunate that you are attempting to deceive me.

[up][up][up][up]All of those, sans Rainbow Curse, were really small spinoffs that barely had any content. And none of them were particularly good, either.

Rainbow Curse was pretty good, but it fell into many of the same traps that Canvas Curse did. And also isn't a platformer.

“None of them were particularly good”.

Implying Dedede’s Drum Dash wasn’t amazing.

As for the other ones, Fighters wasn’t great, Clash Deluxe was good but had mircotransactions, and Blowout Blast was surprisingly fun (aside from the lack of Whispy Woods).

How unfortunate that you are attempting to deceive me.

I have come to a conclusion: They should have a few powerups like the robobot armor and hypernova and super abilities but they shouldn't be the whole entire gimmick and there should be some interesting other things too (and puzzles that are sort of the middle ground between modern kirby and the nintendo hard kirby puzzles of old).

That is my opinion, anyway. And they should always have a sidescrolling-shooter type powerup/mount/thing because those are always fun.

[up]"they shouldn't be the whole entire gimmick"

Robobot Armor is played even more often than Hypernova or Super Abilities were and yet it's the most fun out of the three... Simply because 1) it's not as "overpowered" as the other two and 2) there are many Modes to the armor, so it's not monotonic

The Friend Platforms of Star Allies is somewhere between those three; I'd rate it beneath Robobot Armor but above the others

Assorted thoughts:

Dedede Tour was hella lame. It was cool playing as Dedede and all, but it lacked what made Meta Knightmare mode fun- that is to say being able to spend points on strong abilities. It just felt like I was running through the game with just hammer which was boring.

Color me shocked at the Amazing Mirror's return (albeit because I totally forgot about that tidbit of information) but i'm definitely not going to complain about it being used again!

The True Arena proves how dangerous it is, but also highlights some of the flaws in boss design. All too often I'm going 'sweet, a ton of attacks in a row and I can't touch the boss at all, this is fun'. I'm going to give a special shoutout to Pyribit DX for being the single worst boss in kirby history. Fuck you Pyribit.

Archer also once again proves how ridiculously OP it is. Being able to survive literally anything by holding down is stupid, but with how obnoxious the bosses can be i'm not going to stop using it. But also having really good DPS on the charge shot?? I honestly have to wonder what the devs were on when they made Archer. It's fun but it's also WAY too good.

I've gotten all the way up til the final final fight in True Arena on my second try, so i'll probably beat it sometime tomorrow. Sectonia is a really cool boss, though I can't say i'm particularly attached to her and I can't figure out why.

Similar to the above but with the ultimate choice instead:

Adeline is a good choice for Ultimate Choice because she can spawn healing items during boss battles. Unfourtanetly, for me she's better as a friend because I can't seem to play her well enough to survive to the third fight. I got all the way to the last fight with Dedede, Bandana Dee, and Adeline & Ribbon but died during the flying phase. I need to master spin dodge.

Pyribbit is indeed the single worst boss in Kirby history.

And they thought it was a good idea to bring him back for Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, a game where you're actually ranked for time completion.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!

Pyribbit is indeed the single worst boss in Kirby history.

That an exaggeration. All the hopping around is annoying but it's fine otherwise.

The boss is insufferable. The hopping around is bad enough, but it doesn't sit still long enough to actually deal enough damage to it. The time where you can hit it compared to the time where you can't hit it is ridiculously disproportionate.

But Pyribit DX is an entirely different story. It's everything bad about Pyribit but worse, somehow. On top of hopping around even more and having less vulnerable periods, he has two new moves (which he loves to throw around) that make the ground deal damage to you for a really long time, even if you break the rocks before they explode. So there's a REALLY good chance that even when you can hit him, you won't be able to because you literally can't walk on the floor until after he bounces away again. To make matters worse, all of his moves but kirby into a ridiculous amount of hitstun (albeit that isn't necessarily just a Pyribit problem).

Pyribit (and DX especially) is easily the single worst boss in the Kirby series.

Yeah I never found that rock move a huge problem. It doesn't cover that much ground. And there are far worse crimes that bosses can commit besides "gotta wait for its attack to finish".

Pyribbits attack patterns when it comes to bouncing can also be extremely random sometimes.

[up][up]Except it isn't just "wait for this attack to finish". It's "wait for this series of long lasting attacks to finish, and you might get a chance to hit him before he does another one."

And the rocks actually covers half the field. Like, it's literally impossible to hit Pyribit DX after he does that attack if you're not somewhat close to where he lands.

[up]This is where I stop agreeing. It only covers a third, and it’s the middle third so if you have a ranged attack you’re perfectly fine. With any amount of good timing, you’ll be able to hit him every time he lands. It doesn’t make Pyribbit a good boss, but it’s not as bad as you’re saying. Not even in the True Arena.

How unfortunate that you are attempting to deceive me.

[up]Nope. I literally just replayed the boss to make sure.

The first half of his health he belches up two rocks where you stand, and you're right there. But the second half of his health he belches up four rocks that always go in the center of the stage and that takes up over half the stage.

In both cases the rocks leave puddles that burn you (and cause you to drop your ability) that last long enough for Pyribit to throw up some more rocks.

That's not including his bouncing attack that leaves even larger puddles for a similar amount of time.

Obviously it's mitigated by having a ranged attack, but not every ability does and it's a serious annoyance to movement in general.
