Not too surprising after the Iron Man and Wolverine anime series. And the Warcraft manga. Actually, I guess it's not surprising at all. it is somewhat interesting though.
Planeswalker metaplot. Meh.
I guess it is.All I care about is that the promo art created for the Jace vs. Chandra Japanese duel deck release is very pretty, and I was lucky enough to get a copy (wasn't that expensive either)

Democracy is the process in which we determine the government that we deserveI personally think the promo art is fucking hideous, especially since the original arts for the two Planeswalkers were nice and atmospheric. I understand that the artist put a lot of effort into them, but the Photoshop level backgrounds and generic features simply ruin the art for me. There's much better manga-style art out there.
That said, I have no opinion on the manga itself. It's probably better than those awful webcomics Wizards sometimes releases.
However, there was another Magic The Gathering manga, based on The Brother's War. Really, there was.
The amount of Adaptation Decay is enormous. They got Urza and Mishra's faces mixed up!

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Eh, the Duel Decks version of Jace looks kinda lame to me. I prefer the Japanese one for sure, but his original Lorwyn art is still the best.
I agree with you on Chandra. I think Japanese!Chandra suffers from looking too manga-style to the point that she doesn't even look that much like Chandra. Both of her other arts are preferable.

I guess it is.Well, yeah, sorry, I did mean the original Lorwyn art. Eh, my mistake.
Jace's duel decks art looks like he's flexing his neck muscles or something, and what on Earth is going on with his hair? It's just awful, especially since the original art was jawdropping. Chandra's is okay, but the Lorwyn art is definitely better.
I'm still wondering why there was the art change. I don't know about the people who bought the decks, but the art still clashes horribly with the illustrations with Jace and Chandra in them like Fact or Fiction.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Because people like alternate-art cards.
I guess it is.Eh, true.
Definitely not the worst alternate art ever; that would probably go to 7th Edition Maro.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.I really don't know what was up with Seventh Edition and its "every card must get new art" thing.
I guess it is.I don't really like the manga versions of Jace or Chandra. I think that their western-style portraits are fantastic, and that the manga versions don't really fit with the overall style of the game (ie, the art on the cards and the other promotional art).
@ Brothers' War manga: Who is the girl in the middle? Kayla? Ashnod?
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimProbably Kayla, since she is the person at the core of the love triangle.
