Or she has the sense to not challenge a staredown and instead go another way.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyRE: Sonya - I think this is very clearly a rebound. It's tying up a lose end from a plot perspective, but I very much doubt it's meant to be a Happily Ever After.
As for Sandra - I think she's just acknowledging how intimidating Zoe is. Hopefully the end here is Zoe just replying to Sandra trying to prove something with "Why? Why do you need ME to approve?"
Because Sandra HAS made it, on her own merits. Right now she IS falling back into insecure habits. She's a peer of Zoe's now (At least in terms of being self made / managed - albeit probably not in terms of IMPACT). Think what she SHOULD do is shake hands, say "Thanks, turns out I didn't need you, but I did need the boost. Best of luck."

No, it isn’t a simple Happy Ever After for Sonya; she wouldn’t know what to do with one of those if she got one. It’s a The Adventure Continues, which is great for her, because she’s a drama addict and wants adventure.
What she has seemingly accomplished, on the rebound, is finding a way to leave Zii behind. She was imprinted on the person who changed her life, and that became an unhealthy obsession. Now, she’s actually moved on.
= Spindriver =New SotR strip. I’m sure that various tropes are being invoked here.
= Spindriver =Maybe this is what Zoe was truly afraid of regarding the "easy" way to success: That Sandra would become a self-centered bitch who has discarded all of her good morals and now looks down upon everyone around her just because they're not her.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Incidentally, an old print volume bonus story has now gone up on the site as filler. Warning; it comes from the old NSFW days.
= Spindriver =Well, now we have some context for Zii demonstrating to Gary why facials aren't all that pleasant. Also, not gonna lie, it was kinda refreshing to go back to the early, naughtier days of the comic.
... OK, Gary asked a very good question there at the end. Was Zii planning to just mooch off of him?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I mean, Zii getting a job was a storyline early on, so...not sure what the question is. We saw that play out.
It's expensive to be homeless. You can't store food very well, and you don't have great options for hygiene and telecommunications. And a lot of places won't hire you if you don't have a fixed address.
Fresh-eyed movie blogNew SotR strip. She'd fallen in de war-ter. Again.

= Spindriver =New SotR. Plans require robustness and focus.
= Spindriver =She really ought to have sought out Zoe first before trying to confront Marie. For all she knew, Marie would do something that would ruin Sandra's impeccable look in the middle of the latter trying to snap the former back to her senses (which is likely, considering what Ingrid told Sandra of what Marie has become), while Zoe is too professional to stoop that low unless you manage the miracle of royally pissing her off so much she'd dispense with all sense of professionalism to vent her fury upon you.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. So yes. Insufficient focus on an insufficiently robust plan.
= Spindriver =Giz is back from two consecutive cons, so New Ma3 strip.
Note: Yuki has apparently made a lot of progress. In the old bonus strip that's just been taken down, Zii described her as not the best drummer, but good enough and a hot bedmate. Now, Zii and Angel agree that she's "the best drummer in Montreal". So one must assume that she's improved a lot.
= Spindriver =I'd forgotten since it's been like a week, but Angel's last line calls back to the previous strip.
Ditto. I forgot they even said that line. That is a funny call back.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyNew Ma3 strip. That joke is extended further.
= Spindriver =... Yuki seems to not realize that you can't be a member of two bands if their leaders are bitter enemies of each other.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I suspect that we’re moving towards some kind of reconciliation between Zii and Angel, and maybe even a merger of the two bands. Their feud was always kind of stupid, and that’s the kind of loose end that Giz and Dave01 are tying off at present preparatory to ending the comic.

= Spindriver =New Ma3 strip. That hallway must be getting crowded.
= Spindriver =... WTH got into Isabelle's mind now???
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.
I'm guessing that Ingrid's hair means a lot to her, at least partly because it's important to her sexy self-image.
Let's be fair, Sandra is probably referring to her rookie self from one year ago, since that's the stage that Ingrid was at when she stared Zoe down. Her current career succees is likely to have given her enough of a confidence boost that she believes she can win a stare-down with Zoe now (whether she'll be vindicated or prove to have overestimated her ability is yet to be seen).
