Way too early for me to get even remotely hyped about this. And I'm surprised that Bungie is trying to hype Destiny as being a revolutionary FPS in any sort of way, since a ton of games just a few years prior have already done the exact same idea they had (ex. Tabula Rasa and Borderlands, as already mentioned).
I'm hyped, and I preordered it.
Wonder if it'll be forward compatible with the 720 and PS 4...
Jonah FalconI'm not hyped yet. I'll wait a few months while I keep myself busy with the 100 or so games in my backlog.
I'm moderately hyped. The setting sounds interesting, and if you're free to explore it that will be awesome. I'm also assuming JAF's "forward compatibility" comment is not serious, I reckon this game will almost certainly be next-gen, if only because of Bungie's stated desire to be working on it for the next ten years.
The logo for Destiny clearly says "Xbox 360" and "Play Station 3" on it. Oh, and preorders are for 360 and PS 3.

Jonah FalconI'll buy it if I can play as one of those Alien Forces. Really, this game made me realize how tired I was of being a Human battling Alien Invaders, especially when the Alien Invaders are so much cooler/more complex. I wanna be an Alien this time! Come on Bungie, make it happen!
Also, it's rumored this game is coming out for the Wii U and PSV... So it's rumored to be coming out on 4 consoles/the pc, and it's definitely coming out for 2 consoles. Let's see what happens.
Fair enough then, JAF, but it just doesn't make sense to me that they're wanting to keep this game going for a decade on consoles that are soon to be outdated. Perhaps, as you say, there will be some kind of cross-platform thing, or maybe it will just be on next-gen consoles as well.
There's another video on gametrailers where it was said that at launch only human characters will be available, but down the line, who knows? I would be surprised if you couldn't play as an alien at some point.
From what I understand of what I've read, they aren't planning to have the game last ten years, but the franchise.
I could see them going the route of stand-alone expansions easily.

Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.comYeah, that's more what I was envisioning. I think they're avoiding saying 'MMO', but really that's what it sounds like.

PC, Xbox 720 and PS 4.
Jonah FalconYeah, IIRC, the leaked contract specified 3 main destiny games with two expansions each
The very same leaked contract that this article is mentioning. I'm not sure if we can 100% rely on its info, as it might be outdated by now, but that's the main reason why I've been assuming a PC version is coming.

But no Linux version? NERDRAGE.
Just kidding. I don't care about Linux.

Jonah FalconOfficial announcement trailer for Playstation 4. A few more gameplay clips, which is nice to see. Some very pretty environments on show there.

Is there any video of entirely gameplay footage, or even a demo?
Why there are so many spiders on my head?Nah. Bungie expects us to preorder based on five second flashes of head-bobbing.
Closest I've seen right now is this fan-made one that stitches all the in-engine stuff shown so far together.
My guess is they're saving a gameplay trailer for later, maybe E3. I also think Bungie have been a bit leery of releasing gameplay footage from early builds ever since Halo 2. It happened before my time, fandom-wise, but I think people got upset that the final game was different from that New Mombasa walkthrough demo/trailer. From what I remember, they didn't show much gameplay from 3, ODST or Reach until relatively close to release.

Dang... that fan made trailer actually got me a little hyped, which is really weird, because I've always been very "Meh" about Halo (I could appreciate the quality, and liked that you could dual wield two different weapons, which was removed from later titles of course... but that's about it.)
Maybe it's the fact that it's coming to a platform I own, but I might start to keep track of this one...
every little word and every little stepDo you mean the initial game? Because all I've seen so far states that the initial game won't be on PC (much to my disappoint!)...
Do you have a link to the announcement? Best confirmation I can find is 'potentially' on PC.
It was announced in the LA Times press release.
Jonah FalconExcellent.
Made the page for it, if it hasn't already been posted.
