Alright I checked & the collection does inflict both Forsaken & the Year 2 stuff & the discounts only in till the 17th this month.

..... Hmmmh decisions. Well I already got the base game for free & while I did spend only 20 bucks on Osiris & Warmind, 20 bucks isn’t much.

The issue is if I buy the collection & then Shadowkeep then that’s 75 dollars. Decisions.

Well I can probably hold off Shadowkeep for a later date I guess.

Shadowkeep doesn't come out until September, you've got plenty of time to save up or change your mind entirely

Oh really when?

Maybe I'll consider getting a Forsaken/Shadowkeep bundle if/when such a thing exists.

To be fair, for new players lacking my cynicism, the complete collection is a really good deal.

Yeah, you're buried in Exotic and Legendary weapon questlines these days.

Or, at least, I am.

Not gonna lie, I too felt like Destiny 2 was deeply and fundamentally flawed in the beginning. While I still feel like I don't quite like it as much as I did D1 by the end of it, I do think it's a good enough game to start playing again. And it can only get better from here, by the looks of it. At least I'm willing to hope so.

Yeah, it's a lot better than it was to start out with, and even at the end of Year One after the Osiris and Rasputin DL Cs.

Do Raids have matchmaking or do you have to manually form a team beforehand?

If I remember right, you need a pre-formed team, and then once you've cleared it, you get access to a matchmaking/LFG option.

Which is another thing I wish they'd fucking change. Alright, yes, of course a preformed group is going to perform better (probably, no guarantees even with in-game LFG/party builder, if my experience in FFXIV is anything to go by), but if people want to matchmake with randos just let them. Don't limit player choice, even if those choices are bad, just let the players make them.

That was changed before warmind, raids do have a matchmaking feature but PUGs are so bad at doing them that the ques are 4+ hours long because no one is stupid enough to do it.

Even the old raids were pretty difficult to pull off unless you got lucky with your LF Gs, and with them becoming more and more complicated I strongly doubt your chances of success with any more than a couple randoms is very high. That being said I always advocate more in game LFG options, but you can't control how bad the players are.

Not to mention a lot of people on the LFG sites are super elitist. In some of them you have to have a certain weapon/armor piece/build and they'll kick you if you don't have it.

It's funny because I started using the app to coordinate raid teams, finally able to play them after months being unable to. It's hit or miss in terms of team quality, I've tried to clear Spire of Stars four times and haven't been able to do so because other people bail. The mechanics of the raids are such that you need a full team and all be communicating in voice chat (usually discord), Spire of Stars is especially brutal. At one point 4 people need to be standing on different trigger plates and 2 people go into a teleporter, other raids you can manage with a team of 4 if necessary. Scourge of the Past is the simplest one so far, much of it can be done with quick in-game chat codes.

Alright I got the pack. What happens now, do I get some loot, how does that level up work?

Also trying to finish Warmind before going to Forsaken but I'm not sure what to do next.

Now comes the numbers game really. You just get stronger weapons and armor and you'll get better numbers and get more powerful, though Forsaken raises the level cap to 50.

If you have the AP and have beaten Forsaken, you immediately unlock a questline that gets you level 690 gear (all blues! Don't dismantle!) to give you a headstart on the grind for Powerful Gear.

And yeah, Forsaken is worth it. I was planning on putting out a huge writeup on all the new shit it brought to the table and how fun it is, but looking at the changes, there's just so much to talk about that I honestly have trouble covering it all. I encourage any Y1 players on the fence about taking the plunge to look up changelists on the web, but here's some highlights I've selected on my own:

  • The campaign is actually well-designed! The first mission is probably the best level I've ever played in a shooter, and every Scored Baron has its own unique mission and boss fight with some genuine creativity involved. Really, every single piece of PvE content, including strikes and lost sectors, has moments where I could just stop at any given location and point something out and go "man, that was pretty cleverly made".
  • The story actually has some kick to it this time. Just a warning, though- the campaign's final boss will probably be pretty damn unsatisfying. It has a reason for being the way it is (specifically, the raid), but still.
  • The Scorn have some of the most unique enemies in the game- the Ravager in particular. Their crit spots are in their weapons. Shoot them and they explode and kill everyone around them.
  • The weapon system was retooled. TTK was dramatically increased, lots of stuff was buffed, and shotguns and snipers and fusions were made into special weapons again. Also, armor perks and random rolls are back, so while RNG rears its ugly head again, there's a lot more variety in weapons that have a chance of actually being good.
  • There's two patrol areas, and the endgame one, the Dreaming City, has so many secrets there are actual bounties for finding them. I've been playing for eight months and still haven't found everything! The Tangled Shore's neat too, of course. Gotta love that Eliksni bar.
  • New supers. I can turn into a missile. It's rad as hell.
  • Apparently the milestone/powerful gear system was redesigned? This is something I don't actually know about, being a Forsaken Tot (I'm actually looking a few of these things up to list all the changes).
  • Lore collectibles are back, they're better than ever, and they're actually relevant to in-game content this time! There's even an Exotic mission that lets you visit a location from one of the lore tabs and listen to a record of what went down there.
  • Collections. Anything you've ever obtained in the past is recorded in a list, and if it doesn't drop with randomized perks (such as all Y1 gear and all Exotic weapons), you can pick it up again from Collections at a very low price (albeit 20 power levels beneath your current gear level).
  • In-game triumph lists! Holy crap, you couldn't even see your achievemnts in-game before Forsaken? That's harsh. (Incidentally, one of the subsections in the Triumphs section is for those lore collectibles I mentioned- it's sort of an in-game Grimoire. They're not tied to inventory items like Warmind's were!)
  • Something something Crucible changes.
  • Bows are a thing.
  • Gambit! It's a complicated fusion of horde mode shenanigans, Dark Souls invasions, and boss melting, combined with some pickup/banking mechanics and overseen by the slimiest, least trustworthy Lightbearer we've ever seen. It's basically a melting pot of everything that makes Destiny what it is, and while it's rather divisive in the community, I love it. Also Drifter is the best alright alright alright.
  • Holy shit this post is long I'm ending it here.

Basically, Forsaken is the point where most of the fanbase went "holy shit this game is actually fun now". It's the one part of the game I've played so far that actually felt worth paying for (and it was the only part of the game I actually needed to pay for, so I guess that works out!). I encourage you to try it out.

Didn't they add something where if I can make a new character & immediately level them up to 30 & skip the base campaign?

Cause I've always wanted to branch out to other classes but I don't want to redo everything again.

Check on any purple quest lines in your pursuits tab. Sometimes there is a resource grinding as part of the story.

But yeah, Forsaken is basically everything Destiny should be. A long campaign, a progressive story with distinct characters and lots of content including two new locations. Unfortunately the raid falls into the same trap at Destiny 1 where it is technically the conclusion of the story, rather than a separate mini-campaign of its own. But it has a mostly satisfying mid-point conclusion that much of the Dreaming City feels like an epilogue.

Yeah, the raid thing is actually the reason I mentioned when I brought up the final boss of the campaign. Won't say any more than that because spoilers.

(Techincally the rest of the Dreaming City has another final boss after the raid... but that's also spoilers. >_>)

[up][up]That level boost is good if you already have a character at level 30 and want to level up another one, yeah. I'd still suggest getting a free exotic from the campaign on Titan first, though.

Alright I finished Warmind, turns out I just didn't notice that the next mission was on Earth.

So before I start Forsaken after I go to sleep, where do I go or do for some pretty loot?

Cause I'm tired of my Warlock looking drab as fuck & I wanna start a story heavy DLC in style.

Plus I just wanna stick with Exotic and Legendary gear. I'm tired of always switching back to drabber Rare gear.
