Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.I mean the state of things post-rebellion isone of the reason why I prefer Magia Record's version of events. At the very least Madoka is alive, Homura is happy and Walpurgisnacht is dead. The only problems so far is that Homura didn't do much to prevent it (being a free unit aside) and that as the narrative is still ongoing there is a chance for things to go pear-shaped very quickly.
BTW, I must ask whose currently in a haregi in the Japanese version this time.
Sayaka is the Haregi in JP, and Oktavia becomes a fat koi instead of dolphin.
Magia Record anime is in about 15 hours.
Sticking entirely to the NA version of Magia Record but I know that ultimate Madoka is a limited character in it so I kind of half expect it to eventually end up being a Stealth Sequel of sorts to Rebellion eventually.
I got the impression that Magia Record was just another timeline that was doomed to end in disaster. I guess Walpurgisnacht's defeat makes it an Alternate Continuity instead?
I assume Magia Record is a timeline where everything went well, but Homura had to rewind to escape debt collectors because she spent all her money on the Madoka banners.
See the raw Episode 1 of Magia Record. It's very atmospheric, even the non-Witch mundane world. The anime seems to be under the assumption that you watched the original Madoka, so there's this oppressive tension every time Iroha and Kuroe talk about the call to Kamihama. Expect runes, ominous background details, and Inucurry's visual craziness. A little disappointed by Zenobia, tho.
I think Asakura's voice acting as Iroha is better in this anime than in the game. She's a lot more expressive, but not too overt. Like when she gasps, she doesn't sound like a puppy that gets stepped on anymore.
I like this.
Well I had gotten Kirika off the premium banner (The counter was 98 after the free pulls so Iused soempaid gems and ticket)
Now I just need to pull Tsukuyo and then get Siegbert in FEH and my collection of disappointing pitybreakers can be complete
How does one even commit to multiple gacha games? FGO was already lifesucking as it was for me
Unlike FGO, Magia Record has auto battle and auto node replay, so you can set up the battle party and leave it alone until it's done, before pressing three buttons to rinse and repeat the process.
FEH also has a similar function, though Artifical Stupidity comes into play more ofthen there.
As for for How I plan to do it, for now its basically just getting the dailies in MR in the morning, and then doing FEH in my free time in the afternoon.the current NY event here helps (prolly the chillest event after Magical Halloween Theater due to not having to farm).
FEH and Bandori ensured that I wouldn't play Magia Record. Two gacha games is manageable, but three is not. Plus I didn't really like FGO, and from the bit I played during the JP release it felt too close to that.
But at least I can go into the anime partially blind. Even knowing the big soul gem and witch stuff, they've managed to setup some non-contrived mysteries to keep us guessing. Iroha herself seems likable. Kind, contemplative, and just sort of lost. As Star Wars has recently established, baby versions of mascots are bankable, and Baby Kyubey is no different. The idea of a big city filled with magical girls is appealing to me, as it allows them to fully form a proper society and culture. Hopefully they go that direction. The iconic music remains ace. Madoka has always had a strong visual identity both in the labyrinths and in the real world, and that has not been lost here.
Looking great so far. The queen of the genre is finally back in anime form.
The salamander-like Witch's name is Box Wood
Fight for something, even if its meaningless. Not sure if this really needs to be spoiled, because it's pretty basic setting stuff, but just in case. I wouldn't exactly say there's a full-fledged meguca society, but there's definitely a different vibe. Everyone knows people that they don't formally group up with, and with witches so abundant those relationships are more often amicable than competitive. Even the most insular, us-against-the-world groups send the Token Mini-Moe off to have playdates together.
As a side note, the second I heard "Sis Puella Magica" in the Magia Record anime I felt a twinge of impending dread pass over me.
Rebellion goes off the rails because it's a deconstruction of a deconstruction.
Rather than examine the new world Madoka created it resets the board again to reintroduce all of the characters and bring back the Incubators as the main villains. There's nothing about the wraiths or what it's like for Magical girls to fight them. It's the series again but from a different angle.
I actually find the way it ends not only makes Homura look worse, but Madoka as well. Her saying that laws must not be broken makes her kind of a hypocrite for going all "I'll rewrite those laws with my own hands" at the end of the series.
I once said that Kenji Miyazawa doodled the reference for the first Witch in Magia Record anime. I first heard it from a Japanese fan making video about it, but his picture was blurry so I try to find the reference. I found it, it's his flowerbed design. He used Box scrubs as the eyelashes.
At the beginning, when Iroha has class about Milky Way, it's pretty much beat-to-beat with Night on the Galactic Railroad anime when Giovanni is asked about the white stuff in his class.
Of the wishes that flashes over in the anime are;
- "Something about her mother" (Shigure?)
- Win lottery (Tsuruno)
- Become 100% natural beauty (Ria)
- Want friends (?)
- Big sister get married (Riko)

- Want to know what he thinks about me (Aimi)
- To be closer to my big sister (?)
- Protect Blue Sea family (Meiyui)
- Parents can work for 30 more years (Kanoko)
- Don't want to die (either Ren or Hinano)
- To disappear (Sana)
- Erase my memories of living (there) (Hazuki)
- Want to be cheerful person, like my friend (Ayaka)

Could 'I want them to go out with me' be Rika? I know the target of her wish was a girl, but Japanese doesn't specify gender like that.
The person wishing for friends might be Sayuki

The one with Arisa is suspect though since Arisa isn't a Kamihama native.
Fight for something, even if its meaningless.Man, that list of wishes really highlights the problem inherent to presenting Faustian pacts to pubescent teenagers who haven't yet learned what consequences and life choices are.
If you'd asked me at a young enough age, I probably would have sold my soul to get a Sega Dreamcast.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Its kind of interesting seeing people think which of those wishes were the worst and most screwed over the people who made them. And to then end up on the ones that kinda didn't have any negatives besides becoming meguca.

There are the ones that I'd call the "worth it" wishes. The ones where you'd never regret making them, even knowing you're condemning yourself to monsterness and/or an early death.
ED: Some are just unbelievably dumb though. WTF was Mifuyu even trying to achieve?

Er, no they're not. Homura straight up admits she'll become Madoka's enemy. Sayaka swears to oppose Homura and says she'll never forget that Homura is the devil. Homura admits her world isn't sustainable. The Incubators are being actively tortured. That's before the fridge logic sets in
