Many people give the human names, also some animal (like naming the dog "Bear" or "Lion") and food names. Its also frequent to give a dog a name native of its origin (for intance name and english bulldog "Winston", etc.) or "historical names Although naming a German Shepherd here Brutus, Napoleon or Ceasar is pretty much a cliché.
Some of the most frequent (traditionally hungarian dog names are: - "Bodri" (usually name for the hungarian puli) - "Frakk" (not after the formal clothing, but after a dog from a hungarian cartoon (a vizsla to be exact)- mostly for a medium sized dog, for the reason above it's very frequent name for a vizsla - "Morzsa"/"Morzsi" - meaning crumb/morsel (of bread)- mostly for a small dog - "Buksi" (a childish name for head (like tummy for stomach in english))- mostly for a small dog
Wow, I can't believe this topic got a reply. You, and this forum, officially rock.
So I noticed we have some Hungarian tropers around. Any of you have dogs? What would be some normal dog names in Hungary, like Rover or Lady?
