Sakurai really should just straight-up retire after this. He's more than earned it, and he clearly REALLY needs it.

In other news, aside from the Fighter Spirits, I now have all the Spirits in the game! Not just in the Spirit List, too, I actually have a copy of every single Spirit with me! Not just that, too, I have all of the Primary Spirits at Level 99, including each of the Enhancing and Enhanced Spirits!

That's honestly really cool. It all sounds like it must have been an immense amount of work.

As for Sakurai, I already touched upon the news, but I think we should all be harsher on Sakurai for putting his health at risk. Like, it legit makes me upset that he thinks this is "hard work" and not a toxic and unhealthy attitude for going about things, even if Japan as a whole has this problem. Even more upsetting is that Event Hubs glorified his IV drip stunt (yes, I know it's more common than we think that workers in Japan do this) as "dedication to his craft" instead of the dangerous and unhealthy stunt that it is.

Someone also pointed out that his insistence on doing lots of stuff himself rather than leave his team to work is a sign that he might actually be a worse supervisor than he lets on. Lots of supervisors mentor and train employees to efficiently work hard without their presence and to leave things that need the supervisor's approval down for when they return. We all know Sakurai can be a perfectionist but this way past that and might be belying a lack of trust in employees to get the job done without you.

Also, I'd believe that as the creator of Kirby and Smash, that many people look up to him and think he's cool. Not as many as OTHER people, but nonetheless he's also setting a bad example in letting people think that this is just hard work, and pushing yourself this much is okay if you're the one doing this to yourself, when it isn't.

Here's a wacky fun fact I discovered while filling out the Spirit list: X is stronger than Full Armor X.

Enhancable Spirits don't get a percentage multiplier to their Power, it's just flat addition. X's Attack and Defense are 4,459 and 4,116, respectively, which adds up to a Power of 8,575. Respectable for an Ace Rank.

Full Armor X's Attack and Defense are actually much lower, 3,918 and 3,206, respectively, adding up to a measly Power of 7,124. Full Armor X does have the Super Armor Skill which inflates his Power by a massive 20%, but even with that, his Power is still lower than X's, at 8,548.

[up] Full Armour X’s Super Armor ability is so good that the stats don’t matter too much IMO. Still interesting though.

Yeah, but the Skills giving a bonus to Power is already a balancing factor, there's no need to balance this specific one further by making the one Primary Spirit with Super Armor also super weak in terms of stats (compared to other Legendaries).

Just for perspective, there is another Skill that increases Power by 20%, and it's Metal and Giant, which belongs to Sahelanthropus and Metal Face, both of which have fairly normal stats for an Ace and a Legendary, respectively.

Sahelanthropus has 4,208 Attack and 3,657 Defense added up to 7,865 and increased by 20% to 9,438.

Metal Face has 5,882 Attack and 4,529 Defense added up to 10,411 and increased by 20% to 12,493.

So I was googling with DuckDuckGo andapparently, if you hold down B on every plugged-in controller while booting Melee, you can force it to output in 60Hz mode. My GameCube is in my parents' house so I have no way to test that, but it's interesting if true.

Sakurai really should just straight-up retire after this. He's more than earned it, and he clearly REALLY needs it.
He loves his job and he loves making people happy. It's not a matter of whether he has earned retirement, but whether he wants to.

It's fair to say Sakurai probably needs an intervention. Some of his close friends bee to come in, sit him down, and make sure he takes better care of himself. However, based on every account I've seen of him, Sakurai is living the dream in his current position, and I think leaving it would do him more harm than good.

Dataminers have possibly found two new modes in the How to Play UI database.

Those two modes? Stage Builder and Home Run Contest.

The question is: Will stage builder take more after Brawl's stage builder or Wii U's? Personally, I felt that the free-drawing aspect of Wii U's stage builder was not a good trade for all the moving parts that disappeared from Brawl's stage builder. If they could just smush the two together, I'd be satisfied.

[up][up]I meant the Smash For 3DS stage Pac-Maze, which didn't have looping sides of the screen but did have a very unique, vertically focused platform layout.

A slightly modified Smash Run (where the rules and final challenge can be changed) would be dope.

Nothing even had to be traded out for Wii U's free drawing system.

Neither falling platforms, conveyor belts, or those ceilings couldn't have worked normally.

Personally, I'd love it if Stage Builder lets you re-use each and every single gimmick that's in any of Smash Ultimate's 103+ stages.

Smash Run is unironically my dream thing to return. I put so many hours into it in Smash For 3DS, and it was such a interesting concept. Just spice it up with a new layout, the World of Light bosses, and the ability to customize parts of the experience, and it would be amazing.

Hell, they could even jump on the Battle Royal train with a big enough Smash Run stage. No AI enemies, just 99 other players to kill, and all of them loaded in on the same map.

The Switch would need to be able to load every single character into RAM at once to pull that off and... it can't.
