They have black Miis. Why couldn't they have just done those? Also, the coach from Wii Sports definitely should have been the Doc Louis spirit instead of Mac. That would've been hilarious.

They generally seem hesitant to use the Mii Fighters as puppet fighters. It's mainly just spirits who exist as Mii Fighter costumes such as Flying Man, Black Knight, Nia, and Lip, or characters directly associated with Mii games such as Party Phil.

Big Mac is already used for Giga Mac spirit fight, so it would have been redundant to use him for Mr Sandman. And [up]

I suppose Ganondorf would've been better for Mr. Sandman.

He still should've been boss. In fact, there should've been more (relatively speaking) human sizes bosses like Dracula to begin with

Here are my most-wanted bosses for each franchise currently represented by a fighter (ignoring Super Smash Bros [which I'm putting ROB and the Miis under] (Galeem, Dharkon, and Galleom), Super Mario Bros (Giga Bowser), The Legend of Zelda (Ganon), Kirby (Marx), and Castlevania (Dracula)). Boss will be applied loosely.

  • Donkey Kong: Lord Fredrik from Tropical Freeze. Since K. Rool's playable, Fredrik's the next best thing.
  • Metroid: After looking at Nightmare, that seems like a really cool idea. Heck, it could start out as a souped-up version of yourself like that one part of the Master Core fight.
  • Yoshi's Island: I think Kamek with some of the more famous Yoshi's Island bosses as a miniboss rush would be neat.
  • Star Fox: Andross is the only idea that works.
  • Pokemon: They could do Rayquaza again or Ultra Necrozma/Melmetal.
  • Earthbound: If not Porky again, a Mecha Drago would be perfectly fine. I'm just not comfortable with Giygas because I think he'd be too abstract to work as a fighting game boss.
  • F-Zero: This would be more like a Race to the Finish, kind of like in Melee's Adventure Mode.
  • Ice Climber: Like F-Zero, it'll be the same as Melee's Adventure Mode, but with less Icicle Mountain RNG bullshit.
  • Fire Emblem: Some sort of Fire Emblem dragon would work, like Grima.
  • Game and Watch: Simply survive all the minigames until the battery of the Flat Zone X runs out.
  • Kid Icarus: Obvious Hades pick is obvious.
  • Warioware: Either a minigame compilation in the Warioware stage or an actual fight against a boss from one of the Wario Land games.
  • Metal Gear: Senator Armstrong if Platinum Games is willing, one of the Metal Gear models present in Shadow Moses Island if not.
  • Sonic the Hedgehog: While Eggman would probably be the obvious pick, I'm instead going for Chaos, because a huge water demon's a more interesting idea than another giant robot.
  • Pikmin: The Plasm Wraith definitely leaves a good impression on me.
  • Animal Crossing: Resetti in a game of Whack-a-Mole.
  • Mega Man: Wily in the Wily Capsule is the safest bet, since this is classic Mega Man we're talking about.
  • Wii Fit: Probably something like a gauntlet of her Spirit Mode fights.
  • Punch Out: Mr. Sandman or Super Macho Man, whichever is more appropriate.
  • Pac-Man: Spooky from Pac-Man World 2. If something from that trilogy is given to Smash beyond the design for Pac-Man, it should be this guy.
  • Xenoblade: Metal Face is too simple in my opinion, so I'm going with Egil instead.
  • Duck Hunt: Simply a game of Duck Hunt. Go for a high score and don't let the dog laugh.
  • Street Fighter: M. Bison and Akuma in a tag-team match a la Marvel VS Capcom.
  • Final Fantasy: If you want to go for strictly VII, Sephiroth. If you want to just use stage assets, Bahamut. If you want to go for a Final Fantasy game that was actually on a Nintendo console, Kefka please.
  • Bayonetta: Father Balder seems like the only option.
  • Splatoon: Same thing with DJ Octavio.
  • Persona: If you want to go strictly for 5, Kamoshida. If you want to go for Persona as a whole, Reaper. If you want to include Shin Megami Tensei, YHVH.

Considering that certain villains of nintendo franchises like Giygas and Zero-Two lack a spirit, it's likely they avoided putting the more outright disturbing characters.

Sure, a few are in the game (Looking at you Marx) but it's unlikely they would want to reference the Giant Bleeding Eye or the Demonic Fetus Alien Abomination.

Ultimate's trivia page says there are barely any Sonic songs. That's weird, since I currently have about twenty of them.

I think the most common complaint is that Sonic doesn't have enough remixes.

Most of the songs are taken from other games unremixed. And Sonic's victory theme is still the 06's stage clear only slightly worse.

The benefit of only having the 3DS version is that I get to experience a bunch of cool songs from Wii U firsthand, like the Black and White Route 10 remix (which is actually my favorite Smash song now).

As far as Sonic music goes, the biggest crime is that we still don't have "With Me".

This song needs more love.

A few pages back, I floated the idea of establishing a Just for Fun project where, in a similar fashion to the fanon Pokédex, we could make descriptions for each of the spirits in this game, since they didn't come with any summaries like the trophies from the previous game. Well, I've just finished arranging each spirit in the order that they're listed in the game, and divided by their origin series. I currently have them saved and copied on Google Drive, as can be accessed using the following links (which are publicly accessible and editable):

0001-0133 (Super Mario series)
0134-0171 (Donkey Kong series)
0172-0263 (The Legend of Zelda series)
0264-0296 (Metroid series)
0297-0322 (Yoshi series)
0323-0381 (Kirby series)
0382-0406 (Star Fox series)
0407-0562 (Pokémon series)
0563-0590 (MOTHER/Earthbound series)
0591-0605 (F-Zero series)
0606-0609 (Ice Climber)
0610-0688 (Fire Emblem series)
0689-0702 (Game & Watch series)
0703-0728 (Kid Icarus series)
0729-0748 (Wario series)
0749-0774 (Metal Gear series)
0775-0797 (Sonic the Hedgehog series)
0798-0821 (Pikmin series)
0822-0824 (Gyromite)
0825-0863 (Animal Crossing series)
0864-0920 (Mega Man series)
0921-0931 (Wii Fit series)
0932-0945 (Punch-Out!! series)
0946-0950 (PAC-MAN series)
0951-0973 (Xenoblade Chronicles series)
0974-0976 (Light Gun)
0977-1003 (Street Fighter series)
1004-1005 (Final Fantasy VII)
1006-1024 (Bayonetta series)
1025-1049 (Splatoon series)
1050-1078 (Castlevania series)
1079-1092 (Mii)
1093-1114 (Super Smash Bros series)
1114-1299 (Other series and post-release additions)

With this, if anyone's interested, you can just enter your description (of roughly 3-4 sentences or so, just like with the original trophies) for the spirit you want right into the document. So, what do you guys reckon?

(I really hope I got the links above right; please feel free to correct me if any of them are broken or lead to the wrong page).

Some kind of fault with my brain where the only things into which I seem to be motivated to put any effort are those that are ultimately unimportant, I suspect. On that note, I debated on whether to fold the Mii Fighters into the Super Smash Bros series, but decided to keep them with the other Mii characters (unless any of you would like to convince me otherwise). Also, I tried to include any regional variations in spirit names as well (for example, the Biddybuggy from Mario Kart 8 is referred to as the Buggybud in UK and AUS English).

I personally think the Mii should have their own category given things like Dark Emperor being a thing, but I don't have a problem with them being classified as Smash Originals either.
