Yeah I can't really bring myself to care about Broly. It's been how long since he was in the comic? (Both in and out of universe) Unless he's coming back for some reason this special is irrelevant.

Honestly now at this point I'm only wondering how they're going to justify the lack of Gogeta stomping Broly into paste.

Well, it may be a matter of convincing Vegeta to do it. We know he really hates fusion, and needs to be talked into it in even the most dire of circumstances.

Of course, now is exactly the time when he should be willing to do it, but it's still an easy card for them to play.

The irony is the the one Broly who's an actual character would probably steamroll the entire tournament

I guess we're going to see Broly nuke the solar system and get frozen when entropy sets in.

This story would've been better told earlier on in the story. I don't understand why Salagir paced things this way. He's such a big fan of doing things "according to the manga and parts of the Toei version that he personally likes" but the manga didn't do a special after every chapter, or hold backstories until long after their relevance.

Dragonball moved forward constantly. Super is really the first time we've stepped back in time, but at least we're following interesting events and stuff that's plot-relevant.

I suppose Super might have killed what made this comic special. Back then, a "third" appearance of Broly would have been cool because we never really got to see the Z-Fighters cut loose post-Buu. We never got to see what a returned Freeza would be like except in Wrath of the Dragon. We never saw Freeza interact with someone from the same species as him, or see Piccolo and the others in ordinary life except for anime filler.

We never really got to see an evil Goku fleshed out, or see Majin Buu's powers expanded.

[up][up][up] and [up][up][up][up]

There's also the dance. It took several tries for Goten and Trunks to perform it correctly, so it's unlikely Goku and Vegeta would be able to get it right on the first try. Not to mention it takes a long time to perform it again, should it fail, and time is precisely what they're missing, with a Broly that has already ravaged the planet just by landing.

O.K, the Mario jump on Broly's hand was hilarious.

He'd still be trapped in the middle.

Plus, Gotenks could theoretically help Vegeta on his side

BSSSS

Gotta be honest here, most of these specials being foregone conclusions means they have an uphill fight against the Eight Deadly Words, especially in this case. "Broly was super duper strong and killed everyone the end."

Broly ends up in an ice block, so either a) he was thrown into space and eventually froze or b) he destroyed everything in the universe only to freeze in the accelerated entropy

How would he live through either?

Wait, he can breathe in space, right? For some reason.

On one hand, Cooler did survive the "shoot him into the sun" plan. On the other hand, there wasn't really that much of him left, correct?

Also, hey, I finally get to make the update for once. Hooray!

Edit: Also, I just noticed that Goku, Gohan, and Vegeta are sort of repeating the last beam battle with Cell- Gohan and Goku shoot a combined Kamehameha while Vegeta shoots at the enemy, distracting him and letting the Son family give one final push to overwhelm him.

That's a good way to do it.

Vegeta may not be strong enough to do damage, but as Cell showed, he can hit you hard enough to give you pause for a moment, and in a Beam-O-War....well....

Of course, it likely won't be that easy. It took a lot to get Cell to that point, and this fight's barely started from what I can tell....plus what the hell is Gotenks doing right now?

Vegeta would've killed Perfect Cell in his Final Flash had he not had regeneration powers. Which is why despite it being an "Oh, Crap!" Fakeout I think Cell was legitimately thinking "shit, if I weren't semi-immortal I would be dead"

Oh, there's no doubt of that.

In that brief moment, Cell genuinely did believe he was dead, probably because he, like everyone else present, did think Vegeta was crazy/stupid enough to blow up the Earth to kill him.

Like, if no like he's been willing to nuke the world in order to kill someone else or anything?

You know, this comic makes me really get (and remember) why everyone hates Z Broly

I've said before that I enjoyed the sheer, overt joy he took in beating people down, but I'm also reminded that that only really works the one time (at least for me).

Him coming back and doing the same thing (being crazy cause he's crazy) gets kinda one note.

His inability to tell the difference between surrender and coffins will always hold a special place in my heart, but right now.....he can fuck right off.

Good old Dragon Ball smoke-clears-and-villain-is-unharmed moment! Never gets old!

Actually, it kinda does.

It'd be more of a twist if the smoke cleared and the villain was horribly maimed instead.

Or the smoke, cleared, the villain was unharmed....and while he was waiting for the smoke the clear so he could surprise the hero with how the attack did nothing, the hero was revealed to have fled....or snuck up behind him to land a better attack using the element of surprise.

But that one's probably been done too.
