I'm not crazy, just creatively different. With some of his expression I get the feeling even Babadi is amazed with how well things seem to be going for him .
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaEven though they've shown teamwork and the ability to formulate team tactics against Raditz, Nappa etc.
Let's ignore that to make an on-the-nose joke about the series' conventions.
Multiverse's meta commentary is p bad.
You’re not wrong, but it’s possible they are also remembering how successful those moments were.
One Strip! One Strip! You mean where Raditz died and Vegeta was defeated?
Well Raditz was more luck than teamwork. Everything Goku and Piccolo tried failed until Gohan went crazy and gave them the opening they needed.
It’s the same with the Vegeta fight: he kept tanking everything they threw at him despite their teamwork and it was only due to Gohan transforming via the fake moon (that Vegeta himself created) that they were able to scrape by.
Saying they won due to teamwork ignores a lot of other factors.
One Strip! One Strip!Just because it involved more factors than teamwork doesn't mean teamwork wasn't relevant and necessary for them to win. I wasn't saying that it was teamwork alone and nothing else, just that we've already seen a willingness to use teamwork and how it can be effective. And it completely shoots this scene's idea that they don't know how to work together.
Also, saying they beat Raditz due to luck completely ignores that Goku+Piccolo could have beaten Raditz with nothing but pure teamwork - Goku had Raditz dead to rights by grabbing his tail, before Gohan intervened. Yeah, Goku showed mercy to Raditz, but that's not a fault in teamwork, that's just Goku's gullibility.
Against Vegeta, that was one moment of luck contrasting against a long sequence of everyone pitching in against Vegeta. Hell, even Vegeta having to use a power ball is a result of Piccolo's forethought. So one moment of luck vs an entire fight with four people working together? Pretty obvious what the most important part of that was.
Ok, fair enough. I admit I took that part into account after I wrote my post.
That's also true. Dropping Oozaru Gohan on Vegeta was just the tail end of a lot of stuff that came before it.
I suppose I'm looking at it more as how effective team work can be is entirely up to Toriyama's whims. Everybody standing around while one guy does all the heavy lifting has worked back in the 23rd Budokai (though they didn't do that by choice), and teamwork has been effective (though only through a ridiculous amount of effort due to massive power gaps).
Like many things, it probably doesn't feel that way because Toriyama often sets up certain concepts to fail a large majority of the time, so when they actually are successful, it can slip under the radar.
.....I still thought the joke was funny. Just wanna say that too.
One Strip! One Strip! But, even then, things like the 23rd Budokai, or vs Freeza, etc weren't cases of the characters choosing not to use teamwork - they were instances of teamwork being unviable, rather than the characters just not wanting to do so. Which makes the joke fall apart.
Even this page itself immediately points out the joke doesn't work, although it does so in an even more awkward way with Cell's passage.
The only instance in the series where I think the characters shoot down teamwork where it could potentially help is in the Android arc - which mostly came down to Vegeta, as the other characters expressed a desire to work together but they were either told to but out by Vegeta or warned against it by 17. Then there's the Cell games where nobody takes Cell up on his offer to fight as a team, when it feels like Vegeta/Trunks should be able to help. But I could be underestimated just how far behind Goku, Gohan and Cell left everyone else.
That one instance of the entire group getting beat out by 17 & 18 should pretty much be the go to for anyone who complains about the characters not fighting in a group.
Any later.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. There is also the fact that teamwork stopped working sometime around Namek with the Ginyu Force and only worked to stall for time against the emperor of the universe.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaFunnily enough they're already exceeding with a great example of teamwork; Cell is providing Mini-Cell Jr's to allow for teleportation strategies.
One of the things they should have been focused on is assessing who else is left to help such as the Grand Supreme Kai who can not only teleport but presumably heal with a single touch like the other Kai's and Buu.
Still waiting for Mystic Squared. Give me that Gohan fusion dance damn it.
Click Click Boom BoomGohan don't know how to dance
Oh yeah, he was never taught that. He was training on Supreme Kai's planet when Goku taught it to Piccolo and he taught it to Goten and Trunks.
...Meh. I'm sure one of them has seen it from when their version of Goten and Trunks have done it.
Plus, they've gone into detail on how in synch the two Gohans are, so they should be able to pull it off without too much difficulty.
One Strip! One Strip!
Oh wow something is actually happening again.
