@Cele S

I'm pretty sure in the FAQ, the guy said something about if he's making a sequel, he'll probably create a whole new group of characters instead of re-using Junpei's group. SO, we'll probably never know anything on what happens next between Junpei and Akane.

Though, I think Akane will probably will make a cameo or something. There's something 'bigger' happening after the events of 999 after all.

Speaking of sequels, are they going to make a sequel revolving around Nonary game again? If they didn't, that whole 'being in danger and have to escape in a given time' vibe will be completely gone and it is the main charm of the first game imo. But if its the opposite then it'll probably gonna be predictable. I just can't see if the guy could pull off another good story and keeping the main elements in the first game.

It's not like this was the first game he's written with these themes (being in danger + a time limit). In Ever 17 it was "we're trapped in an underwater facility that's slowly collapsing from water pressure" and in Remember 11 it was "we have a newspaper from the future foretelling our deaths". This guy's built his entire career writing these stories.

@lacusness: Well, what I remember is that in case me does a sequel, he will make a new set of characters alright and then mix some of the old cast ones into the mess. Dunno if that general idea of his will still stand when he truly starts to develop a plotline since a lot of shifting and changing of original ideas will take place. At least we will know about Akane and Aoi, after all, they are the masterminds and if Word of God will become true, they have something bigger planned.

@Clarste: And they are always super, super brilliant! Except for Remember11, but then again he didn't manage to direct it but onyl left a draft of plot and plot twists. Still love the game and I'd hope for a sequel with him as head director and scenario writer.

As for the concept of the possible sequel, I dunno. But he (I can't rememebr his name, I am that bad) surely will find some awesome main theme and game concept again.

@Cele S Oh yeah I missed that part. And then it hit me, since the Saw series did significantly influenced the game. It makes me wonder if the surviving members of the 2nd Nonary game will survive on the next game..Nah, the ending is too upbeat to suddenly kill anyone that easily. PROBABLY.

Um... the author specifically said that he was not significantly influenced by Saw. It's a movie he's seen, but he was more influenced by other things.

Haha, yes, Clarste is right, the game appears to be influenced a lot by Saw, but apparently it wasn't that much. But Word of God already stated it. The Big Bad in this game apparently isn't the only one. So let's pray!

The true ending and the whole FAQ were pretty much screaming for money. I really hope they get enough money to make the sequel, or else...

Also, IIRC Nakazawa was the one who directed and wrote most of the Infinity series, while 999 is Kotaro Uchikoshi's first work as something more than a scenario writer, though I might be wrong.

I still don't get the entire relation between the directors and scriptwriters of either series (never bothered understanding them...), but since the main term here is scriptwriter, so no matter who directed Ever17, the script was a major driving force for it to become pretty good. 999 just got an awesome direcor to an awesome script as well, I guess? Not that the other director (and yes, I hate remembering names as of late) is that terrible, he's pretty good because even Remember11 would have turned better if they spent some more time and money on it (which they apparently didn't have at that time).

So, yes, they were kinda saying they need high selling numbers in order to continue. I hope the number of idiots who don't understand and get the gameplay or story is a minimum (seriously, quite a few gamers are just dumb and prefer playing easy games, or just don't want to try out something text-heavy even fi tehy could understand it, it's a sad thing). Europe could sell the game as well, I'm sure there are many people who'd buy and play the game if it was in a language they understand (other than English, there are many willing to play and aren't good with English).

Let Japan recover first (or, get a grip on Fukushima nuclear power plant is a priority here as well, I guess), then we'll have a better image of what will be produced and whatnow. Everything has slowerd down over there, luckily it isn't a standstill.

If you like 999, try playing "Time Hollow" for the DS and reading "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie.

Haha, I just realized that the month is JUNE. xD

I'm trying to confirm something here - did this song only play in the Knife ending? It seems like an odd song to use only once, especially with something like that ending.

The ringtone was "Extreme Extrication". tongue

BUMP! I just got this game, and I've done every ending but hte last in this order: Coffin, Sub, Knife, Axe, Safe, and the True Ending will be next. (note that I didnt use a guide to get these endings)

Such a good game...I'm just calming down after getting the Safe ending. I'm also debating on whether to finish it off tonite or save it till tomorrow night.

EDIT: Shit.Shitshitshitshit SHITT!!! I think I just got spoiled on the last ending. All I was doing was looking at a topic on a random scene in the game that's on all paths, and then someone blurts out...geh

True Ending has waaay too much in it for it to be spoiled so easily.

Mild bump again! I just finished my first playthrough of the game. Guess what ending I got? I was Jason'd by Clover. FUUUUUUU—

And you know what really bugs me about this? Not that I got a bad ending. The fact that I never found out what Ace and Lotus got up to! Damn! I feel like this could've been prevented if insted of going straight out the door after I solved the puzzle, I turned around and looked behind me first. Without spoiling me to absolute pieces, can anyone confirm if that's true? Just a simple "yes" or "no" will suffice...

I'll start a new playthrough soon, but I'm wondering which of the two initial doors to take this time. On one hand, I'm now itching to know more of Lotus' story, especially if Seven/Lotus is indeed canon. Partially because I spent a ton of time with Seven in this first playthrough, and now I'm curious about her story. (I kinda like Seven, from what I know of him. Sure, he's a bit of a perv, but he's smarter than he looks, and he's a pretty nice fellow after all.) But there was that safe in the first room... Gah! Maybe I should do that in memory mode. I'm sure that safe is important.

Still, I want to see how many endings I can get without a guide first. Without spoilering anything, can anyone tell me how difficult the true ending is to get, just generally?

@Freezair

No.

The final ending is not really difficult to get, (I actually got it the first time around,) but you have to get a certain other ending first, or it'll just cut it short before anything is revealed.

That was my first ending too and also my signature. Isn't murderous Clover just adorable? :3

If by "adorable" you mean "completely terrifying." Although I did kind of see it coming with the whole "stick" part. I also kinda have a sneaking suspicion as to what Ace and Lotus did, mostly involving Ace sedating himself, but we'll see.

Eh, screw it. I think for my second playthrough, I'll just do the opposite of everything I did this time. At least I'll know where that leads me.
