There's a difference between cancellation and not ordering any more episodes.

Not that much of a difference, especially if the series isn't given conclusion.

It's not "ordering more episodes" if they still have one single last episode to premiere!!

Just like there's a difference between pushing you down a hill and letting you fall down a hill, but in both cases you're still dead and the other guy still was a dick.

No, it's the difference between hiring you to do a job for a set amount of time and then not rehiring you afterwards, and hiring you to do a job for a set amount of time and then firing you before the set time limit.

The Looney Tunes Show was picked up for 52 episodes. If the story isn't resolved, it's not because execs are evil monsters, it's because the writers operated under the assumption they'd have more time than they were explicitly given.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.

Why is this even something worth arguing about?

Whether canceled or simply not ordering more episodes, the fact still stands that CN won't be airing any episodes. We want more episodes. We won't get more episodes. CN is to blame for us not getting more episodes. See where I'm going with this?

Because, see here's the thing, Cartoon Network does not owe you more episodes. Cartoon Network does not owe you anything. Your wants are immaterial.

Cartoon Network was contractually obligated to provide funding and airtime for fifty-two episodes. They did that. You act like they aim to actively screw you over by not extending that obligation further.

I'm irritated because we're playing the blame game when no one did anything you can actually blame them for.

Actually, it turns out they ACTUALLY DID get airtime for 51 episodes, considering we have a final episode completed but just sitting there!

Could be a holiday episode. Could be a production error needed to get fixed.

It's gonna air eventually, though. Be kinda stupid to cancel a show with one episode left when it's run this long. And Cartoon Network's already paid for it. Be a waste of money.

[up][up]After Halloween, the big ones for cartoons are Thanksgiving and Christmas. Either way it's gonna be a while until we hear about it.

Lol this guy. I'm a consumer. Cartoon Network gets my money and my views. I have the right to feel entitled to the shows I like staying on TV. What are you, 10?

[up]No, I'm not. And neither are you. And that's why Cartoon Network doesn't owe you anything.

I mean, unless you've got a kid or something.

And you do have the right to feel entitled. I have the right to find that entitlement irritating. That's how freedom of speech works.

[up]That's why good shows that try are more likely to get canceled more than shows like, say, Johnny Test. If someone asks for a good series, we should be entitled to it rather than being dicked around by a company or others. It's TV etiquet!

But we weren't dicked around. We're one episode short of the number we were promised.

We were told, up front, that this show was getting fifty-two episodes. No one jerked us around. No one promised us more. We got what we were promised.

And Cartoon Network has no control over Johnny Test's production. That's Teletoon. They sell the show to Cartoon Network in syndication. Even if CN canned it Canadians would still have to suffer.

Then if we wern't screwed over, what's stopping them from airing it online? At least we could say it's over and done with and we saw it with our own eyes!

[up]Are you referring to Taz, or the Simpsons episode which, might I remind you, argued for the idea that a public given hours of free entertainment owes nothing to the people to whom they're providing it—and, moreover, was making a qualitative argument, as opposed to the purely quantitative one on which the question of more Looney Tunes Show episodes is predicated?

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.

The Simpsons scene.

It's worth mentioning that, subtly, and if you can read between the lines, both sides, even the Strawman, have a point there- while you're supposed to sympathize with Bart, Comicbook Guy still has a point on criticizing it, even if not the way he was expressing himself, and Bart's observation on the viewers owing the network is just as false as the other way around- viewers already made money for the network by watching the show, and a geek like Guy has already made even more money for them by buying their merchandise and related material.

[up]Alright, fair point. You have to understand that when I say Cartoon Network isn't obligated to us I'm being very specific. They're obligated to entertain us—where "us" is "children broadly from ages 8-13"—because that's what they're there for. What they're not obligated to do is let us dictate what their schedule looks like or what shows stick around.

I just feel like bemoaning the fate of a show that ran for 52 episodes with declining ratings in its final season sets a bad precedent. If the mere act of not renewing a show is screwing over it and its fans on the same level as leaving it incomplete, than why should the networks try to please us to begin with?

I'm not really interested in the obligation and all that type stuff, so not going to chime in there. All I know is that there is 1 more episode remaining and they've not aired it yet. I want them to air it already as it was part of the arrangement.
