No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...
I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?
Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

One army Saga of the Beast makes possible: Waaagh! Grot
As we’ve already seen, with Saga of the Beast, it’s now possible to form your ladz up into Specialist Mobs. One of these options is Grot Mobs, which gives you the Cheeky Zoggerz Subkultur◊.
While it doesn’t make them as lucky as Makari, a 6+ invulnerable save for your hordes of Grots is not something to be sniffed at. We need a Battle-forged army to gain the Subkultur, so we’re going to form a Brigade Detachment. That means that we can take advantage of this invulnerable save by taking lots of Gretchin. And when we say lots, we mean LOTS. We recommend stocking up on Ork Flesh paint before even reading ahead.
Yes, it’s 44 power but even a tactical genius like Roboute Guilliman is going to think twice about facing down 330 grots.
Now we need a bit of support for the grots and, Gork knows, they need some!
As vehicles, these all take advantage of the Subkultur rule that lets you re-roll hit rolls of 1. And to think, grots were already the best shooters in the Ork army!
Okay, now we need someone to lead our brave army of grots into glorious victory – or, more likely, inglorious failure. We’re going to take a little bit of a liberty here since shokk attack guns technically fire Snotlings rather than Gretchin but to most Orks, runtz iz runtz.
HQ◊
If the Meks ever run out of ammo, there are plenty of grots around to fire through the scary warp tunnel.
There’s only really one choice when it comes to Fast Attack options for a Gretchin army – Grot Tanks!
What better way to defeat your enemies than by crushing them beneath the tracks of your mighty tanks? Maybe taking advantage of your Subkultur to make those deadly kustom mega-blastas even more accurate!
Finally, we’re going to round out our army with some Grot Oilers to hang out with our Mek Guns and to fix our Grot Tanks and Killa Kanz.
Sure, they technically come with a Mek, but we all know who the real star of the show is here.
So there we have it, an entire grot army!◊ Is it top tier? No. Will most other armies run out of bullets before they can take down that many Gretchin? Probably. Is it going to be fun to play? Definitely! And surely Gork and Mork will smile down upon you for daring to even try.
That's gonna be a lot of work for a gimmick army XD
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.You know people will do it though.
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellThe kind of people who are just closet Slaanesh-worshippers, yes.
So rules to play grots as something more than trash that deserved to be kick?
Ballsy.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"So I finally watched the 1st episode of Death of Hope, an animated 40k fanfilm done by one guy.
To be honest, I feel disappointed and mixed over the video. On one hand, I give credit to the creator making this series all by himself and it's set during the Horus Heresy. On the other hand, the trailers made people think the 1st episode will be about Ultramarines defending a planet from Chaos Space Marines with cool fight scenes. Instead, it follows the aftermath of that invasion where the survivors are captured and taken prisoners by the Chaos Marines on their ship. Furthermore, the viewer is never properly introduced on who is who and never shows how the survivors were captured or how the mother and her baby were mutated by Chaos and If it weren't for the subtitles, I wouldn't understand what anyone is saying. Instead, the 1st episode is just Chaos walking around their ship while the Imperial survivors are killed or tortured by them just to show how evil Chaos is. Plus I think the creator may have focused too much on the gore and horror.
Hopefully the next episode will fix it including showing the Invasion in the trailer.

I'm particularly not a fan (an anti-fan?) of the 'for REAL fans of OLD SCHOOL 40k' vibe I get from his foreword. It reeks of gatekeeping, and frankly seems unpleasant. That could just be me though. The technical standard of the work itself is superb for a one-man band, though the plot beats are a little off-tempo as has mentioned.
I will said the episode is great because it set the atmosphere and it really set a gothic horror vibe rather to jump to bolter porn already.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Yeah, it seems to be more of an atmosphere-building thing, though it does have its issues.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Just got an e-mail update from GW:
Seems it’s finally time to stay at home and tackle that pile of sprue you’ve been stashing under the bed and finish that half-painted unit that’s been languishing on your desk.
The safety and wellbeing of all our customers and staff are paramount to everyone here at Games Workshop. In response to the developing global situation surrounding the spread of COVID-19, and following the advice and instruction from both the government here in the UK and throughout the world – we are closing Games Workshop sites around the globe.
This means that all our Warhammer and Games Workshop stores will be shut from the 24th March until an initial date of the 14th April. We’ll also be closing our factory and distribution centres – so our online stores (Games Workshop, Forge World and Black Library) won’t be selling or shipping any physical products during this period either. If you’ve recently placed an order and are waiting for it to arrive, please give us 48 hours to contact you. If you've still got questions after that, then please drop our Customer Service team a line via email, they’ll be valiantly working from home to ensure you’re supported over this period.
Now, more than ever, the wonderful spirit of friendship and cooperation that binds Warhammer hobbyists around the world is needed. With that in mind, the Warhammer Community and Warhammer TV teams are bunkered down in their hobby rooms at home ready to update warhammer-community.com with fun Warhammer news, articles and content each and every day.
And, of course, you’ll also still be able to keep yourself entertained with some cracking ebooks and audio dramas from Black Library’s digital offering.
Most importantly, everyone stay safe – be supportive to the people around you, and keep your mind and body happy and healthy. When this all blows over, we’ll get back to throwing dice together soon enough!
Sincerely,
Andy Smillie
It was inevitable, and is a bit sad, but it could actually allow me to catch up with reading my backlog of sourcebooks.

Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellTechnically, it allows me time to tackle my pile of shame. So much untouched plastic...
Mega Man fanatic extraordinairelet your Slaanash loose on those models..
New theme music also a boxI would recommend using paint instead.
You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.Even once things re-open, our legions of tech-priests will need a bit of time to chant the litanies of reactivation to get the machines back up and running. So, there will be no new physical releases launched until at least the 2nd of May. As you would expect, these dates may be delayed further in due course.
To help you pass the time until then, we’ve got all sorts of great things planned, both here on the Warhammer Community site and on Warhammer TV. Most exciting of all, we have our first online Warhammer Preview tomorrow, aaaand we might just have a surprise for you at the end of tomorrow’s preview show… be sure to follow along with all the latest news in the live blog that will start rolling right here at 2:00 pm UK time.
See you there!
It will save me a bit of money while I am not working due to the virus but still

Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellMore info on the Adeptus Mechanicus units introduced in the upcoming Psychic Awakening: Engine War.
Aerial Attack
If your enemies are resistant to the teachings of the Machine God, then it’s only logical to come at things from a different angle – such as from above. The Pteraxii are cyborg warriors equipped with flight packs. They come in two different units, the Sterylizors◊, who are honed for aggression…
…and the Skystalkers◊, who seek out the best vantage points from which to pick off targets with their flechette carbines.
The Adeptus Mechanicus are also getting a new flyer, the Archaeopter. The new kit builds three different unit options – that’s 11 if you count in binary! The Transvector◊ is an aerial transport craft, capable of delivering your infantry in speed, style and safety.
If you prefer bombers, choose the Fusilave◊ and drop payloads of ground-penetrating, tectomagnic bombs that cause seismic shock waves.
Finally, the Stratoraptor◊ is the ground-attack variant, soaring in to strafe targets with its heavy phosphor blasters.
The kit is incredibly customisable, with optional wargear and the ability to be built in flying or landed mode, with the landing skids and legs modelled in different positions.
Ride to Victory
The Adeptus Mechanicus are also getting some new options on four legs too. Only the finest Skitarii are promoted into the corps of Serberys cavalry. Once there, some of them join the Raiders◊, long-range scouts who excel in outflanking enemy units.
Others join the Sulphurhounds◊, shock line-breakers who smash through defensive positions, leaving no survivors.
Who doesn’t love mechanical fire-breathing dog/horse creatures? All of these new units are going to provide some incredible new tactical options for your Adeptus Mechanicus army.
I love the Dune flyers
