My bet is on alternate reality or time shenanigans.
And I'm going to guess that Forest!Annie is the fake, not because I believe it, but just to make sure it's on the books.
Writer, or something. And... a button? 🖲️I suspect this as well.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youOh and can't forget that she might somehow be Loup/Coyote.
You know what, let's make a list:
Alternate reality
Time shenanigans
Garden variety clone (evil or no)
Fairy in clone body/changeling
Forest Annie is the fake
Both are real
Both are fake
Robot
Loup/Coyote in disguise
A mix of the above
Did I miss anything?

Writer, or something. And... a button? 🖲️I don't think the Annie we have been following is fake because she is the one Loup asked to stay with him. I don't think he would settle for a fake, so I assume she is real (note that this doesn't rule out both being real). Also, this is a trick that have been done before, so I don't think Tom would repeat himself.
I will also vote against alternate reality shenanigans, time travel and robot, because this is Loup's doing and so I expect something more myth-like. These are more the realm of science fiction or modern fantasy, I believe, so I think it wouldn't fit very well.
I think he would. He might be one of those creeps that makes a mannequin of the object of their affections. This may be his version of a stalker shrine.

"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterIt depends on when the clone was created. She could have been made months later. For all we know everything from Annie exiting the Ether onwards could be a different Annie. The real one would have left and gone back to report what happened.
Whatever happens I hope it's not just a case where Forest Annie is the real one and the other is a copy. That's a bit too straightforward.

Even if that is exactly the case, it doesn't need to be straightforward. For starter, if the other doesn't know she isn't real herself, it already brings interesting ethical complications. Furthermore, if she have been living in the Court for months with all Annie's friend then there is a whole lot of new experiences and attachments. Even if Forest Annie is the 'real' Annie, does it make a difference if the other Annie have all her memories plus have been living in the Court for longer? It is not a simple question.
Dat Loner Girl, yes, a couple of wild ones:
One of them is Surma
One of them is Antimony Stibnite
Annie is a Time Lord
Surma actually had twins
Loup is actually a Nice Jewish Boy
One of them is thirty-five rabbits in drag standing on each other's shoulders
Everyone is Annie

Spiral out, keep going. If they're both real, what does that mean for the whole fire elemental life drain thing? Unless that has a doppleganger as well, one of them is going to start dying.
It’s actually 3 little Annies in a trench coat ^^
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterI'm disappointed he didn't mention the 'exploded diagram' bomb more specifically.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.I think both Annies are real but just different in specific ways. We have Tony!Annie and Loup!Annie now.
Looks like they both have flamey etheric projection.

Knew it.
Loup knows how to let the flame spread to another wick: same fire, two candles.
Hey, Court Annie is wearing makeup again.
We don't know how many months have passed for sure. But, it's clearly enough for differences to start mounting up.
What bugs me about this is that this more than hints that Coyote always knew how to help the fire elemental with the flame-splitting, limited "fuel"-issue. But. Didn't.
Surma could have had herself and Annie; Tony didn't have to lock himself away... all that jazz. And, for however many times a similar story has played out for the flame. But, noooooooooooooooooooooooooo: not even a hint.

That got me thinking... Is Annie (and her family line) the only fire elemental in the whole world? If not, do they all look the same?
It's a shame we don't know what Surma's mother looked like.

Spiral out, keep going. The impression is that there are others. Surma's ancestor is "some manner of fire elemental" which implies a species of some kind. It does seem strange that there's no way to grow the species though. maybe they're slowly dying out for this reason.
So... my theory might be the right one? They're both as equally real as each other?
Man this really is John Chricton from Farscape all over!
I suspect they're both real. No doppelganger, no clone, no fake.
Because it's much funnier if they make that mistake.
