• Jerkass Woobie: Kano's treatment of Nitta makes it hard to sympathize with her initially, and it doesn't endear her to him. But then she starts genuinely liking him, silently appreciating what he does for her, and listening to his opinions and taking them into consideration. Then later chapters show how Nitta is probably the best thing that has happened to her recently in an otherwise sucky, lonely, and self-destructive life, and you will want to give her a big hug and tell her that everything is going to be okay. The tragic part is that for all her Character Development, and despite beginning to see him as more than just a toy, she still treats him as one for a while outwardly.
