• The Woobie:
  • The Machine itself; her generally gentle-sounding voice, well-meaning attitude, and child-like personality make the tests to scare her and the manipulation the Director puts her under hard to watch.
  • Vincent as well; dying daughter, working for a corrupt system, and when he develops a close bond with Ava, he has to watch her die because his boss caught on about her investigating their corruption. As an extension, both his daughter and Ava count because of what happens to them.
