YMMV / The First Nudie Musical

• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The one serious song, "The Lights and the Smiles", is impressively mounted but still seems out of place.
• Fair for Its Day: The LGBT material in the film is Played for Laughs, but isn't really done in a demeaning way. The song "Lesbian Butch Dyke" is very stereotypical but is ultimately a pride statement for the character. Mary LaRue calling Harry "fag!" when she quits is meant to be a kicker emphasizing what a Jerkass she is. And George getting mugged by the transgender woman is treated as a bizarre happening but not any more humiliating than a normal mugging would be.
