• Moral Event Horizon: Mace Blackhail is more-or-less a walking Moral Event Horizon crossing:
  • He initially seems little more than a slimy opportunist; his rape of Raina (his stepmother, of all people!) solely to neutralize a potential rival for the chiefdom cements him as truly evil and willing to stop at nothing to gain power.
  • If that doesn't do it, then his attack on the Bludd caravan, at which he callously orders the slaughter of numerous children and non-combatant women (including the Dog Lord's daughters-in-law and most of his grandchildren) definitely does.
