• Informed Wrongness: The episode tries to make John Henry Irons look like a Knight Templar for going after Bruno Mannheim. Clark and Sam seem more sympathetic because Bruno's wife Peia has cancer, just like Lois. Nat tries to draw a false equivalency between Candice's small-time criminal father and the leader of Intergang. Most of the "good" guys spend the episode treating the Mannheims as a loving couple deserving of respect, not organized crime bosses who have already murdered many people, attacked Lana and John at the Smallville mayor's office, murdered the former mayor, strapped John's alternate-sister to a bomb, raided the DoD and stole lots of stuff, tried to kill Superman in a planned trap, and sent Henry Miller to kill John slowly. Made worse in that Clark utterly fails to stop Henry Miller from nearly killing John and endangering everyone in downtown Smallville. When John uses his hammer to put Miller down, Clark is more upset that there should have been "another way" — despite the life-threatening danger everybody involved was just in!
