YMMV / Star Trek Deep Space Nine S 03 E 03 The House Of Quark

Go To

  • Fridge Brilliance : Quark on coming to the duel says, "I am Quark, son of Keldar and I am come to answer the challenge of D'Ghor, son of...whatever." Quark in fact probably really didn't remember D'Ghor's father. But to a Klingon noble it would sound like he had deliberately insulted D'Ghor's ancestry making for very Klingonesque pre-duel Trash Talk.
    • For the matter of that a Klingon noble might have been equally insulted that his ancestry wasn't considered important enough to research.
      • Not only that, but he didn't say "whoever" he said "whatever". He's even implying that D'Ghor's parentage isn't even Klingon.
    • Quark earlier pointed out how D'Ghor's attempt to destabilize Girka's House through financial trickery was very much "like a Ferengi." When it comes time to face D'Ghor in the duel, the Klingon has become so greedy - the Ferengi's Hat - that he'd forgotten that real Klingons would not strike down a defenseless foe so eagerly. Even Quark - a Ferengi who's actually shown understanding of other cultures throughout the show's history - knew better.
  • Heartwarming Moments: Grilka telling Quark how proud she was of him for showing up. Gowron too.
    • Rom willing giving up money from his paycheck to hear Quark tell the story about how he beat D'Ghor. You can feel that he just wants his brother out of his funk and to feel proud of himself.
