YMMV / Sound of Metal

• Accidental Aesop: It's metal to protect your hearing.
• Anvilicious: The movie goes through great lengths to show how important it is to cultivate a mentality that deaf people (and all people with disabilities by extension) are not broken. It’s a lesson that is not a message that has been overly portrayed in media in the past, so the film really hammers it in.
• Informed Wrongness: Rueben had a career in music, lost his hearing suddenly, and would like to have it back. According to the movie, this is nigh unforgivable, and tantamount with declaring all disabled people broken and in need of fixing, but Rueben is simply making a choice for himself, his circumstances, and his life.
