YMMV / Skylanders: Imaginators

• Contested Sequel: It is tied with SuperChargers for being the most divisive game in the series. On one hand, it is disliked by a portion of the fanbase for its bare-bones story, varying quality of levels, and skewing everything to be in favor of Senseis and Imaginators, making past Skylanders virtually useless. Meanwhile, there's another portion who enjoys it for still having the same fun gameplay the series is known for, and also the fact that creating your own Skylanders is just very fun. The game probably has this much of a divide in it because it was the Franchise Killer.
• Special Effects Failure: During the scene where Kaos and Brain try out some of their Mind Magic on Glumshanks, one of the things done is replacing Glumshanks' right hand with a seperate head of his. It is plainly obvious that the head is cropped on without any attempt to make it look connected to Glumshanks' arm.
• Play the Game, Skip the Story: The story is generally regarded as being very lackluster due to its low stakes and Random Events Plot. But most fans are willing to put up with it because it still is fun to play these games, and Imaginators is no exception. The creation aspect is also so positively recieved that most people would call it a good game on that alone.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: With Wolfgang, the Golden Queen, Chompy Mage and Dr. Krankcase getting actual figures, many fans were left wondering why the remaining three members of the Doom Raiders (The Gulper, Chef Pepper Jack and Dreamcatcher) weren't given the same treatment, with many saying that they most likely would have been better picks than using the generic trappable enemy villains.
