• Broken Aesop: Lampshaded by Gus and Gretchen after Ms. Finster reveals that everyone tattled on Randall except for Gus and his friends. Gus asks why, after he was told to keep quiet, that everyone tattled. The kids justify that the strain of missing recess and cleaning was getting to them. Gus then points out that either the code is wrong, or everyone is. Gretchen admits that sometimes situations are not so black and white, and King Bob pardons everyone because there aren't enough pails for them to follow the code.
