• Author's Saving Throw: Cersei's murder of Robert was carried out in a way several readers pointed out was barely plausible, with the author replying that the strike was sloppy because Cersei had no time to plan at all, and later chapters making it clear that people suspect her to be involved in the attack, but none of them have the power or the will to act on it before Joffrey takes the crown. Tywin, however, might act on it soon.
• Values Dissonance: The wizards and witches clearly see things differently from how the Westerosi do. For example, Hermione and Ginny dislike how women are treated as lesser than men, and Harry sees jousting as too violent.
