YMMV / Patlabor: The TV Series

• So Bad, It's Good: The voice acting in the English dub of the TV series (including Dan Green). Most of the actors, frankly, sound like a bunch of untrained yahoos the studio pulled in off the streets, though they do try. There's actually a bit of Fridge Brilliance with the voicework, though, as the shoddy quality actually fits with the bored, underfunded, under-disciplined nature of Section 2. Apparently this was due to the voice director often being absent from the recording sessions, leaving the engineer to handle those duties instead. Also, the voice actors were given the straight translation instead of an adapted script, meaning they often had to re-phrase the dialogue on the fly in order for it to fit. The result was so poorly received, the dubbing studio never recorded another anime.
