- Funny Moments: In the film Monster In a Box, Spalding Gray relates during one performance of the play at Lincoln Center when the actor playing Wally Webb (Shane Culkin, brother of Macauley) interrupted the funeral scene with projectile vomit.
- During Act II, Mr. Webb gives George, his son-in-law-to-be, a long lecture on how to steer clear of your wife's authority (Ex: "Make sure she doesn't really know how much money you have). Then Mrs. Webb walks in and... "I did the opposite of that and I'm a happy man."
- The wedding starts heartwarming and serious with everyone walking in...and then George's friends come by. You really need to see the play in action to see how hysterical this is.
- Misaimed Fandom: Wilder himself felt that the play, while immensely popular, was seldom performed as he meant it to be performed. It's often treated as a charming, nostalgic portrait of small-town life, when many elements are meant to be critical (if often gently so) of the characters' parochialism.
