- Accidental Aesop: The film makes a quite effective portrayal of ingrained, systemic misogyny apparently without even trying, with Noelle having the idea that Santa Claus must be a man so deeply implanted in her psyche that she completely ignores the insanely obvious signs that she's the one who should have the job.
- Captain Obvious Reveal: It's very obvious throughout the film that Noelle is the real Santa Claus. She's extremely devoted to the Christmas season, and understands the role of Santa much better than her brother and cousin, and has remarkable abilities that only a Santa should be able to do (such as being able to understand every language and sensing whether someone is naughty or nice).
- The Woobie: Both Kringle siblings are this. Noelle loves everything about Christmas but was cast aside by everyone and could only provide menial support once Nick began his training. After Nick disappears when he follows her advice to take a weekend off, she gets blamed for ruining Christmas and becomes an outcast. Meanwhile, Nick was pressed into becoming Santa Claus even though he never wanted to nor had the skill for it. The pressure of the situation eventually gets to him, and he feels he has no other choice but to run away.
