YMMV / Narita Boy

  • Enjoy the Story, Skip the Game: The narrative and presentation have been generally praised for the balance of 80s science-fantasy action and surprisingly thoughtful and meditative tone, with particular attention being brought to Lionel's flashbacks. The gameplay on the other hand has been viewed by some as too simplistic and frustrating in spots to hold long-term interest.
  • Spiritual Licensee: It's plot has a lot in common with TRON: Legacy. Besides the prevalence of Tron Lines and primarily taking place in cyberspace, both feature a rogue program enslaving his creator in order to create a bridge to the physical world so his army to invade can invade it and the day being saved by the creator's son (though this is a twist in Narita Boy).
