• Genius Bonus: The school secretary has a name tag on her desk that says "Miss Laurel", prompting Tom to riff, "Does that sign say 'Miss Laurel' or 'Miss Yanny'?" This is a reference to the Yanny or Laurel auditory illusion where people hear a certain audio clip as one or the other in almost a 50/50 split. Jonah's response of "Who's Laurel?" implies that he literally sees the name tag as "Miss Yanny".
• Money, Dear Boy: At Dom DeLuise's name in the opening credits, Tom muses, "Don Bluth must've taken a year off and somebody needed health insurance."
