- Accidental Aesop: If you're part of a minority, especially in a time where it was severely oppressed, prepare to most likely rely on only yourself.
- Alternative Character Interpretation:
- Do the werewolves deal with Alternate Identity Amnesia, or are they at least somewhat aware in wolf form and unable to control themselves anyway?
- Was Cooper fighting Hardy in defense of Heather, or was it purely werewolf instinct kicking in?
- Tear Jerker:
- With Jonny's tearful look as she tells Heather she can't talk to her anymore during the party and Rick looking on, it's clear that she still loves her, but ultimately can't find herself to stand up to Rick. Understandably, Heather has a breakdown when she gets home, leading Patti to show a rare moment of comfort. The next scene is her on top of the truck, letting out a wail that devolves into a Howl of Sorrow.
- Henry's death and what comes after that. While Cooper and Heather reconcile during the funeral, it just strains Hardy's connection with her further, believing that her sexuality was responsible.
- Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: Things barely go well with our protagonists, with Heather's family deteriorating and Jonny torn from their relationship thanks to Rick and her own inner conflicts. While Rick gets what's coming to him, the two are ultimately unable to fully reconnect as Heather has to move out in an uncertain "Ray of Hope" Ending, leaving most viewers unsatisfied.
