• Ass Pull: Gendo being all along a corpse animated by Miki to find the other beasts. There is absolutely no earlier hints of this and doesn't even make much sense if one thinks carefully. Hardly surprising, considering the third episode was produced by a different company that apparently tossed the original plans for the ending to the trashcan.
• So Bad, It's Good: As put by this article:
