• Unintentionally Sympathetic: Eric Byers is 17, so technically still a child himself, his father abandoned the family and his new stepfather doesn't like him. He clearly knows that his pedophilic urges are wrong and wants nothing in the world more than for them to go away. He comes into SVU hoping that they will help him make his urges go away. Instead, Benson and Stabler accuse him of actually molesting his stepbrother and try to gaslight him into admitting it.
• The Woobie: It's hard not to feel sorry for Dana. First, she's told that her son may have sexually abused her other son. Then her husband, understandably, wants to cut off all contact with Eric, but as a mother, she can't bring herself to abandon her son, even if he is a potential predator. Finally, she's the one to discover Eric's body, cradling it as Fin asks her to let him go. She blames herself for his death.
  Dana: I loved him, and I'm glad he's dead.
