- Slow-Paced Beginning: With numerous shots of people driving round wide expanses of wasteland, and very few characters being quick to consider, let alone accept, any kind of paranormal explanation for what is going on, the first series takes a most of its length before any kind of action or direct investigation starts. The slow pace may be justified in that the series seems more interested in the characters' obsessions and emotional problems, which may even be somehow triggering the mysterious reappearance, than in playing out any sort of thriller plot.
